maybellene sat on her infamous stool as matt poured a customer a drink. she rested her head on the table and groaned, frustrated as hell. matt just looked at her with a confused look before continuing to serve people while maybellene mopped around.

he didn't know what was wrong with her, but he didn't bother asking. the bar was pretty empty but that wasn't surprising. it was a little past 4 a.m and people were starting to leave.
soon it became 5 and the bar was dead silent.

they both still had and hour until their shift was over so matt just locked the entrance, knowing that they weren't going to get any more customers anyways.

he grabbed another stool and set it next to maybellene, setting down two glasses of vodka. "will this help?", he asked, maybellene bringing her head up.

she took the glass, a sarcastic smile before downing it and her face scrunching up. "burns."

matt chuckled, downing his drink as well before making maybellene spit out what was on her mind.

she covered her face in her hands. "fuck..."

--

louis sat in his car. he was pulled over on the side of the rode, engine turned off and his head rested against the steering wheel. his head was throbbing. it was 7 in the morning and he had already had a bad start to his day.

he had gotten in an argument with harry earlier, about maybellene. but to be more specific, it was about the kiss. harry didn't know what was the big deal and why louis was fumming. louis just left without saying anything. he didn't want to admit that she was subway girl, at least not yet. he didn't want to tell his best mate that he kissed the love of his life.

she's not yours louis, he thought to himself. she's just a stranger.

he leaned his head back against the headrest. "why am i feeling like this?", he asked himself.

he took his phone out of his pocket and pressed speed dial.

"c'mon, pick up.."

--

".... so now i don't know what to do.", maybellene finished, taking another shot of vodka. she lost count on how many she took but she didn't care. the alcohol was in her system and it was making her feel better.

matt tisked. "so you're telling me that louis is subway boy but you don't know how you feel about him?"

she nodded. "and now harry has a thing for you so you don't know what to think?"

she nodded again. matt laughed. "may, you do realize that the two of them are still technically strangers?"

matt was half right. she still didn't really know them that well but she did know them well enough to consider them friends.

"so are you saying i should just drop them? forget them?", she asked, cocking her head to the side as matt downed his beer.

"i didn't say that. i'm just laying down the fact that you hardly know the two so why would you even consider going out with any of them."

"it sounds like you're jealous.", she mumbled, taking a sip of her beer as matt's smile faded.

she looked at him, noticing his expression before putting the puzzle peices together.

"oh my god. you are jealous.", she said quietly before matt stood up and started to clean up.

matt dodged her response as he grabbed their glasses and put them in the sink.

"matt."

"i'm trying to clean up maybellene.", he shot back.

"why didn't you tell me?", she asked, going over to his side.

he didn't look at her. he kept washing the glasses but soon stopped when she turned off the water and made him look into her eyes.

"since when?", she asked.

matt sighed, wiping his hands onto his apron. "like two months after i started here."

she sighed and shook her head. "why didn't you tell me?"

"because when i was, you started talking about louis. every single fucking day may. and do you know how hard it is to admit feelings to someone when they begin to grow feelings for someone else. some who isn't you?", he shouted.

she flinched at his voice, taking a few steps away from him. "i'm sorry."

"and do you know how many times i told myself maybe she'll forget him? or maybe she'll realize that i'm the one?", he shouted again, knocking down a few glasses into the floor; shattering.

she stayed quiet, looking at him in the eyes with sympathy. "i didn't know."

he sighed at locked down at his hands. he took a few deep breaths. "yeah. you didn't. but now you do."

she looked away from him, guilt forming inside of her stomach.

ring, ring, ring

her phone was buzzing in her pocket. she took it out and saw the caller id before muting it.

matt looked at her. "it's louis.", she said as she set her phone down on the counter.

"then why don't you answer it?", he said grimly, crossing his arms over his chest.

"because i'm confused now matt. and if i answer his call, i don't think i'm ever going to know what i want."
