Chapter Four - Tap. Tap. Tap. What?!!

Ah. I just love my talks with mother. Her constant assumptions and scolding just bring tears to my eyes. Literally. Like seriously? When is she not going to assume and actually listen for once! But then again, I would have the way she grew up to blame. She grew up in Asia where everyone had strict standards and expectations. And I know she just wants that best for me. It's just a little hard for her to express herself since English is not her first language.

After a few more moments of contemplating about how mother just wants the best for me, I start heading up to my room.

    --Three flights of stairs later--

Finally reach my room, I connect my iPhone 11 Pro to my wireless speakers and start listening to iTunes Radio. A couple minutes into listening to the radio, I decide to take a shower to freshen up my mind.

    --15 minutes later--

As I finish up showering, I start thinking about which homework assignment I want to do first.

I decided on choosing to do my Foreign Language homework first, then Trigonometry, US History, English, and Chemistry. All according to due dates and my class schedule of course.

But as I start doing my homework, I start hearing taps. Not the usual taps of the keyboard, but as if something is hitting against another object.

And so, I stop doing my homework, and start listening.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

There it goes again! And I don't think that the music is causing this sound, but just to make sure, I'll just stop the music.

I was proven right because when I stopped playing music, I still heard the taps. So, I start looking everywhere to figure out where the tapping is coming from. But when I search nearby the window, the tapping gets louder. Maybe it's the branch bumping against my window again.

Though when I pull back my curtains, I notice that (1) the tapping is caused by pebbles being thrown against my window, and (2) the pebbles are being thrown by the one and only, Xavier Jacobs. I'm just glad mother and father had the window glass replaced with flexi-glass. If not, I bet my window would've shattered by now.

Opening my window, I whisper yell, "Xavier! What the hell are you doing?!"

"What do you mean? I'm just minding my own business." Xavier says while trying to act casual.

"Yeah, I'm not buying even one piece of this casual sh*t." I said, getting a bit aggravated as I spot some scratch marks on my window.

"Just go home Xavier. I need to get going on my homework, and plus, I don't want to have any more scratch marks on my window."

    "But I am home Princess."

    "What are you talking about?"

"You see that house right there?" He says pointing to the vacant house behind him.

    "Yeeaahh..."

"Well, my parents just bought the house a couple days ago. So technically, since I am on the land my parents just purchased, I am home. And you have no right to tell me to get off my parents' land."

After Xavier said that, I stood there dumbfounded. How could I be so dumb as to just totally overlook the possibility of Xavier occupying the once vacant house?

"Your parents may own the land you're standing on, but I still can call the police on you as you are disturbing the peace I once possessed." I shot back cockily.

"Yeah, like you would do that. We both know that you want me."

"Uh no I don't. And I WILL personally handcuff you if you continue to disturb my peace." But when I look back down, I notice Xavier isn't there anymore. Huh. Maybe he finally came to his senses and went back into his new house.

"Lavender! There's a guy named Xavier here looking for you! He says that you two have a school project to work on!" Mother calls.

Oh that no good dirty little vermin. He just had to come and visit me now. But what shocks me more is that mom actually fell for his trick! Like for goodness sake mom, why couldn't you question him more? Just wait until I – Knock. Knock.

    "Who is it?"

"It's the hottest guy on the block. Wait, let me take that back. It's the hottest guy in the world!" says the guy I loathe oh so very much. But I opened the door anyway, as my mother would scold me for being rude to a guest.

"What do you want?!" I seethed.

"Well, when I told your mother that I newly moved here and I'm not very familiar with this place, she said that you could show me around. After we work on our "school project" of course. Oh, and about handcuffing me--kinky." Xavier winked.

"Oh dear mother, what have you done?"
