There were a chorus of wolf whistles as I went downstairs. I sighed, rolling my eyes at the boys that sat at the table.
I had changed my outfit for whatever cliff diving activity they had planned. I now wore a corset-styled royal blue tank top, jean shorty shorts, and my favorite Steve Madden gladiator sandals. My sunglasses covered my eyes, and my hair was half-up, half-down in a little poof at the top of my head.
My Blackberry was in my hand, seeing as how my email and other messaging places were blown up with party invites. Some of them weren't even in California. I swear... I don't know half of these people that invited me places. They're like distant relatives of the people I actually do know.
"Hot damn! Did you get all pretty just for us?" Paul said, smirking at me.
"Oh, shut it, clone. I naturally look this good," I bragged, smirking as I hoisted myself onto the countertop.
"Who told you that lie?" Luke put in.
"The same person that said your birth was a good thing," I shot back, putting on my hottest little devious smirk. The boys all made 'ooh' sounds that made me want to laugh.
"Anyway, are we going cliff diving or what?" I asked, flipping my hair over my shoulder.
"We're waiting for Jake to get back from chasing after Bella. Well, he calls it hanging out. I call it the endless game of she loves me, she loves me not," Jared said, and I raised an eyebrow.
"So he likes Bella?" I asked, my voice sounding bitter.
"Likes? More like loves. He's been head over heels for her since they were kids," Luke said, scoffing.
"And does she like him?" I inquired.
"Nah, she has a boyfriend," Quil said.
"Then why the hell is he still chasing after her?" I said, trying not to sound snippy.
"That's the same question we've been asking ourselves for months," Embry said with a sigh.
I let them continue their conversation, ignoring what they were saying. They were apparently going to meet Jacob outside, and then they'd come to pick me up.
I can already tell that this Bella girl and I will get along. I wonder if she's pretty or not... Eh, it's hard to find girls prettier than me.
"Alex?" Emily called.
"Yeah?" I said, raising an eyebrow.
"Would you like a muffin?" She said, smiling at me.
"Uh... Sure," I said, taking one of the blueberry muffins from the basket she held. I took a bite and... Oh my holy cheese, this is good! It's probably the best muffin I've ever tasted.
But it was also the messiest muffin I have ever tasted. My entire hand was covered in blueberry. My eye twitched, and I sighed, getting off of the counter and going to the sink. When I finally figured out how to operate it, I began to rinse my hands.
Jacob's POV
"She's the bitchiest girl I've ever met," Luke complained. He'd been going off about some girl he met for the first time today since I came onto the reservation.
"Still... She's totally hot, though," He continued, his eyes glinting as he most likely imagined fantasies with that girl. Again, I still have no idea who he's talking about.
"And just who are you talking about?" I asked.
"Do you remember that girl we used to hang out with? Sam's little sister?" Jared said.
My eyes instantly widened. "A-Alex? She's back?" I said in shock.
"She's back... And she's freakin' hot! You need to see her, Jake," Quil said.
"He's right. The girl's become gorgeous," Embry agreed.
"And she's going cliff diving with us," Paul sang, grinning his way too cocky grin.
I shrugged. "Sure, I guess..." I muttered.
Alexandra had always been pretty. With her chocolate brown hair and shimmering chocolate brown eyes, appearance never troubled her. She could get you to do anything with that cute little cheek-boned smile of hers.
Of course, that didn't mean she compared to Bella, the girl I had spent the most amazing day with. Well, it was amazing, up until that leech of a boyfriend of hers came and ruined all the fun.
We all finally got to Sam's house, and the guys filed in quickly. I was the last one in. I sent a smile Emily's way once she grinned at me, and I nodded at Sam who had his usual serious face on. However, Emily and Sam weren't the only two in the house. There was another girl, one who was at the sink, her back to me. I didn't see her face, but already, I knew she was beautiful.
She had chocolate brown hair running down to a bit above her waist that was styled half-up, half-down. She wore a corset styled top that was royal blue, jean shorts that were a bit above mid-thigh, and gladiator sandals.
She turned around slowly after turning off the water, grabbing a napkin and drying her hands. I couldn't see her eyes clearly, since she had on sunglasses. She stared at me, lifting off her shades slowly.
In seconds, I was lost in her gaze. Beautiful chocolate brown eyes stared back at me, eyes with dark and definate lashes. Her cheekbones were like perfect little plums, ones that went with what I already knew was an amazing smile of hers.
Suddenly, I felt my mind go blank. Everything that mattered to me was cut off, floating to the sky like balloons. Nothing else, no matter what it was, mattered more than the girl in front of me. She was the sole reason for my existence. From now on, my purpose in life would be to protect, to make her happy, to be everything she needed, no matter what it was.
It wasn't until a few minutes later that I figured out, with great dread, might I add, what had happened. This girl in front of me, the beautiful one... I had imprinted on her.
