She is light as a feather in my arms as I carry her down the road to her Uncle's house. Fearing what her Uncle would think if I was the one to bring her to his doorstep unconscious I gently nudge her forehead with my nose and whisper, "Melanie, wake up, you're home." She groans and buries her face against my chest ,her arm resting against my neck while I cradle her in my arms. Should I force her to wake up? Or face her Uncle's (possible) wrath... "Melanie, please wake up. You need to go inside." Her only response is some kind of whimper mixed with a whine so I give up and hope for the best as I climb the stairs to her town house stoop. It's so ordinary, red bricks with a brown roof and a flower bed nestled in the window, just like all the rest of the homes on this street. I don't know how people could be so boring!

I try to be gentle as I use my foot to knock on their door and within a minute the lock clicks and Uncle Gright opens the door wide.

"May I help-Melanie!" He exclaims and reaches for her but her grip on me only tightens and I can't help but smile a little to myself.

"What happened to her? Where has she been? Why do you have her?"

His tone turns offensive at the last bit but I choose to ignore it, "Sir, If I may, I am October Herring, we were childhood friends, she stayed with my family and I after the unfortunate disappearance of her mother. I knew something was wrong when she wasn't at school for two days, and frankly I'm appalled that you hadn't called the authorities. I however, went and found her tonight. She is badly hurt, please allow me to bring her in and help her get comfortable... she would do the same for me."

He looks me up and down clearly bothered then his eyes set on Melanie in a way that boils my blood, "yes, well, thank you, you can set her down now." He grabs Melanie's arm and shakes her, "wake up!.. darling." Does this Servile not realize he is dealing with a Vampire? I see right through his bullshit. I'm about two seconds away from taking Melanie home away from this place when she jerks awake.

"Huh? October? Where am I? Uncle Mike?" She seems frightened but I hesitantly set her on her feet. She is so weak she leans on me but before I can truly react he grabs her and ushers her inside without a word to me. I turn to leave but a moment later her uncle is outside the door on his stoop.

"Okay, August-"

"It's October.. sir." I glare at him knowing my eyes are beginning to glow.

"Yes, well, October; I thank you for bringing our Melanie home to us but I expect that this shall be the last night of your friendship. Melanie has no business hanging around the likes of you and no niece of mine will be seen in the arms of.. one of you."

This Servile is out of his fool mind, however I must remain calm... "With all due respect, Sir, Melanie is one of my dearest friends, and I refuse to end our friendship for no reason." I almost want to chuckle as the man's face turns a deep red almost violet, all the while his knuckles are growing whiter as he tightens his fist, oh please let him hit me!

"Yes, you two seem to be very close. Your reason is I am her guardian and I am forbading you to speak to my niece again. Now leave my property before I call the Police."

He is a dead man. Mark my words. However, for Melanie's sake I'll behave... for now. I turn to leave and take off flying, just to make a point. How dare he try to come between me and Melanie. Whatever, it's not like he can make me stay away from her at school, or at all really. The fat oaf should have been thanking me! Regardless, Melanie is somewhat safe, atleast she had better be, dear Uncle Gright's days are already numbered.
