With Leighton at school and Father resting I pretty much had the house to myself, you would think I would want to rest but I was far too on edge for that. Malikai and I had parted ways in town with his promise to be in touch soon, I had but one thing on my mind, Melanie. I'm going to have to explain, I mean it's Melanie we're talking about, she will just have to know... I don't know though, I'm nervous, what if she takes it badly... what if she takes it well? I decide to let myself dream of the positive, and push the negative out of my mind as much as I can. Five and a half more hours to go...

It's 3:48 pm and I am about to lose my mind, Leighton is already home with a brief grunt as his only acknowledgment that I'm alive, so she should be here soon. Where should I be? Father said she was sneaking up to the house trying to peek if I was home yet so I assume she looks in my window. I know! I'll draw the shades so she can't see inside and be hiding outside so after she turns around all disappointed I'll be there. Haha, I give myself a metaphorical pat on the back and rush outside to find the perfect spot. After I'm hidden amongst the bushes in perfect view of the street and my room I start getting nervous... great. This is a dumb idea, she probably won't even come, I can't tell her everything, she'll think I'm a freak, she probably already does seeing as - shit there she is.
She looks absolutely adorable trying to be sneaky, she should know better but whatever it's still cute. As she nears the house the look of hope fades and she gets frustrated that she can't see inside. I love when she scrunches her nose up... god what is wrong with me... Anyway, she gets up close to the window and I suck it up and fly behind her quick as I can, she doesn't even notice the breeze. Perfect. I grin watching her, waiting for her to turn around, I've missed her scent and being this close.
"Oh my god!' She jumps a foot and screams when she turns around facing me.
"Boo" I can't help but grin.
"October!" She screams again and jumps into my arms, the sparks start at once but neither of us move; my arms are around her waist and her's are around my neck, it could not be more perfect. "I was so worried, I came and looked everyday! They wouldn't let me go back because it was a stupid Vampire Hospital, I'm the freaking human who took you there!"
"Shhh, I know, It's okay, Father told me everything." She smiles and hugs me tighter.
"Come on, let's go inside, we need to talk." She nods and follows me, her hand in mine.
"This place hasn't changed a bit... you still have our bunk beds." She smiles and plops down on her old bed as I settle down in my computer chair.
Yah... I could never bring myself to get rid of them..." I look down as she looks up at me,
"Alright well, let's talk. Feel free to start." She grins and I can feel her eyes burning holes in me.
My eyes light up a little and I stammer a bit, "Um, well, where do I start?"
"The beginning duhh."
I look down and begin to tell her everything, I start with the easiest part and explain how Father told me she had to leave for her own protection and that I went into complete solitude after she was gone... then I told her about Father and I finding the note and what he said about when he saved her and that he should have never told me to make her leave... Eventually we reached the harder to explain parts, I never looked up at her once while describing scents and the headaches and Father's advice and why I had ended up needing the hospital. I didn't look up at her once, that is until she got up, moved my hands and sat in my lap playing with my fingers.
"You know, if I hadn't grown up with you, I would tell you that you're full of shit." We both smiled as she continued, "so let me get this straight... you and me are destined to be, ya know, together?" I look in her eyes and nod mesmerized. "And if we are on a path that doesn't lead to us being together, you get sick?" I nod again. "And you... you won't... be okay if we're not, right?" I nod again. Then she rests her hand on my cheek, "Well then, I suppose there isn't much more to discuss now is there?" and she kisses me. It was the most incredible thing I've ever felt, the warm softness of her lips pressed against the cold of mine, our eyes shut tight just feeling each other, she made me feel warm and I never wanted it to end. The electricity seemed to explode and the scent was so sweet and enveloping, this was bliss, this was nirvana, this is everything I've ever wanted or needed, SHE is everything I've ever wanted or needed.
"Unfortunately, I can't stay. I have to head home or my uncle will suspect something. I've been telling him that I'm staying after school for tutoring so far but I think he's starting to suspect, especially with how late I will be today. I'll see you tomorrow, right?"
I stand up and nod, "I'll be there bright and early."
She kisses my cheek and heads out the door, "Bye October". After I hear the front door close I drop down onto her old bunk and just smile to myself. Life feels so good right now.
