He was the boy next door.
Jade and I were living together then, and one night, as I threw away the trash, I saw him down the street, throwing away a trash bag into his own bin. It was an awkward meeting- one where he introduced himself and I awkwardly said hello.
But that was all it took.
Soon, we were hanging out, and then, we were going out, and before either one of us knew what was happening we were both in too deep.
But we were young, and California never felt like home for either one of us, and although we shared similar dreams, we had different methods of reaching them.
