I walk away, leaving Justin sitting at the bar alone. Well, alone for a few seconds because when I look over my shoulder, the redhead that had been sitting next to me had moved over and starts up a conversation with him.
I laugh, not because it's funny, but because in that moment, I find it unbelievable.
I walk towards Dominic, who's standing alone at a table. He's staring at his cup, which is empty, except for a few ice cubes.
"Hey," he smiles when I near the table. "How's my favorite person?"
"In need of another drink," I admit with a chuckle.
Dom smirks and raises his glass, "Me too."
He leaves to get us some drinks and I wait for a few minutes for him to get back. The party is still in full swing, and I doubt it'll be settling anytime soon. At this point, I'm glad I have a room booked here in the hotel.
"Bourbon and spite," Dom says as he sets the small glass in front of me.
"Thank you," I smile.
"Jay was there," he says and I nod.
"I'm aware. I was talking to him earlier."
Dom raises an eyebrow and takes a drink before responding, "How'd that go?"
"Better than expected."
"At least you two can talk to each other. I can't even look in the direction of most of my ex-girlfriends without having them tell me some shit."
I snort and take a drink from my drink, "That's because you're kind of an asshole."
Dominic gasps and touches his heart as if my words have hurt him. I roll my eyes and he laughs nodding his head before taking a sip from his drink as well, "Yeah you're right I am kind of an asshole."
"Kind of?" I hear Rob's familiar voice cut in. From my peripheral vision I see him walk up and smack Dom's shoulder as he stops at the side of our table.
Dom rolls his eyes, "Great party, man."
I snort, "He didn't do shit."
Robert narrows his eyes at me, "Hey, I did something." He retorts.
"You handed me your credit card and you told me to throw an amazing party."
"And you did," Dom intersects.
"Yeah, she did." I hear another familiar voice say. Looking over Rob's shoulder, I see Justin. He smiles and smacks Rob's shoulder just how Rob had smacked Dom's shoulder just a few minutes ago.
It seems like I can't escape him. Ever since getting back in California, he's been all I can think about. I hate that after all these years, he still has an effect me. He still causes my heart to race. He still makes me jittery. He makes me feel like a teenager all over again.
