||Twenty-Nine||
Robert's gone by the time I get out of the shower, leaving a note on the kitchen counter for Jade saying that he's meeting Justin and Dom in LA and that he won't be back until after lunch. Our conversation from the beach stays with me all morning. His words echoing in my head as I move around the kitchen preparing my coffee and making myself breakfast. Even as I sit on the couch watching TV I can still hear his words in the back of my mind.
"He still loves you."
"It might not be the same love as it was five years ago, but it's still there."
"It'll always be."
And it made me wonder if it was true. Was Robert just saying that to get me to feel bad or did he say that because it was true?
And the question now was: did I still love Justin or was I just fooling myself into thinking I had moved on?
