So, above is just a completely random picture just because. This will happen often. Expect it.

School sucked for Hazel Levesque. Despite her phenomenal grades, she hated it. Perhaps the fact that she had no friends contributed to it, or maybe the fact that she didn't fit in with anyone was bullied by the popular girls was the reason. I'm betting on the latter.School also sucked for Frank Zhang. He, unlike Hazel, was popular, played sports, and had plenty of friends, but, also unlike Hazel, had terrible grades. (His grandmother was not happy.)
Home life was better for Hazel. She and her half-brother, Nico, were the same, so he did not blame her for blasting the music and zoning out the world.
For Frank, his home life was better, even though he spent his time either helping his grandmother or outside with his friends.

"Hazel Levesque?" the teacher called out.
"Here," Hazel grumbled. The teacher, Mr. Gyer, glanced up to spot her and said, sounding like it was the 100th time that day, "Hats off, please." Hazel sighed and pulled her beanie down, setting her crazy golden curls free.
A few snickers were heard, but not enough to rouse the teacher. He kept calling names and getting "Here" as a reply. Hazel reached into her pencil case and produced a black Sharpie pen. She doodled a quick diamond on her wrist and quickly stashed it away as the teacher stood up.
"Okay, so I'm your new history teacher. My name is Mr. Gyer and that's G-Y-E-R--"he quickly wrote his name on the board"--and this quarter we will be learning about Greek myths. Who can tell me about one myth?"
Nobody raised their hands so he called on a kid in the back row.
"Ah yes, James is it?" The kid nodded. "Do you know any Greek myths?" He shook his head. Hazel rolled her eyes. They were in 8th grade right? Had they not learned about any myths? Good lord, how bad can history teaching get?
"What about you, hmm?" A few kids snorted. "Do you know any Greek myths?"
"Yessir," she said quietly.
"Which one?"
"Well there's the one about the Golden Fleece, and the one about Hades and Persephone, and the one about Medusa, and--"
"We get it, we get it, the band geek is a mythology geek, too," an girl in the front row said in a snotty voice. The students burst into laughter.
Hazel rolled her eyes again. Of course, because she was wearing a Fall Out Boy t-shirt she's suddenly the "band geek." But whatever. She's fine with it. It isn't the first time.

Meanwhile, in the 10th grade language class, Frank Zhang was attempting to follow along with the class in reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, but dyslexia was making it difficult.
Fortunately, it was the end of the class. Then it was lunch and free period, and he could see his friends. So far, Goode High wasn't that bad. His favorite teacher was definitely Mr. Blofis, and his least favorite was Mrs. Dodds. The bell rang and the students began to shove out the door, forgetting all about personal space. Frank stood at the edge of the mob, not wanting to get trampled. WOut the door, over everyone's heads as he was the tallest in the class, he saw a short African-American girl with golden eyes. She's very pretty, Frank thought, but she looks lonely. She was probably on her way to her friends.
Little did he know, she had none.
