At lunch, Calypso, Rachel, and Will joined all of them at their table. Rachel sat next to Annabeth, Will next to Nico, and Calypso sat as far away from Leo she could. He was just plain weird.
When Hazel arrived, she and Rachel became friends right off the bat. They both were artists, and they both loved painting. Everybody was talking except Frank. He was listening to Hazel. Not in a creepy way, just listening to her get really excited about her art. She sounded happy, really happy. Next time they had a conversation, he should ask about what different pencils are used for or something.
Will and Nico were talking about the computer apps teacher. Even though Nico was a freshman and Will was a sophomore, they had the class together. Nico was smiling at Will when he made jokes. This was the most Frank had seen Nico smile. He decided he liked the Solace kid.
Calypso was asking Annabeth and Pipet questions about the classes and teachers, Are they nice?, Are the classes difficult?, etc.
Frank was happy that he had this "small" group of friends. They were all so different, but they got along very well. The part that surprised him most, though, was the age differences. Even though most of them were sophomores, except Percy and Annabeth, who were juniors, Nico, a freshman, and Hazel, in eighth grade, they treated eachother the same.
The bell rang. The students mostly parted ways, except for Annabeth, Rachel, and Calypso, who had home economics, and Nico and Will, who had U.S. history.
