Frank POV
The rest of the day went by in a blur. His mind couldn't stay off the topic of Hazel. She had smiled at him!
Percy had invited her after she signed the paper, to hang out with them at the Food Court after school. She had agreed, and she was going to meet up with them at the lunch table.
"Hey, Hazel," Percy said. "Hi."
"You ready to go? We're walking," Annabeth said. "Yeah," Hazel said. Everybody started walking and talking with each other. Hazel scanned the group, biting her lip, as if trying to remember everybody's names. Frank accidentally caught her eye, and she gave a slight smile. His face turned pink and she grinned.
"So, Hazel, what grade are you in?" Jason asked. "Oh, eighth," she replied. Gods, Frank, she's in 8th grade, you don't have a chance, Frank thought to himself. Not to mention she's Nicos sister. Gods.
They arrived at the mall, and started heading towards the Food Court. "Hazel, watcha getting?" Nico asked. "Um...I'll just get some McDonalds."
Later on, when everyone had their food, they were all quiet, savoring the food. A couple of guys approached them, but Frank didn't pay much attention. Probably just asking for directions.
"Hey girl, you think you can give me your number?" one asked, eyeing Hazel.
"No," she said simply.
"Why?" He seemed amused.
She looked him in the eye and said: " I dont like bluntness. Also, I don't know your name, or how old you are, or literally anything about you."
"Aight." He smirked at her and walked away. Everybody was quiet for a second when Nico said: "Nice job, Hazel." She took a fake bow and the kids applauded her. Frank's phone buzzed. It was a text message from his half sister, Clarrise.
Your gramma wants you home, dweeb get your butt home
Frank rolled his eyes. "I've gotta go home," he told the group. "Oh, Hazel, too. Can you drive her?" Frank's face turned pink, for the third time. "Uh...sure?" Piper snorted.
"Nico it's only like five," Hazel complained. "I don't care, you have homework." "So do you!" Piper whispered to Frank: "Sibling bickering is so cute." "Not with Clarrise and me, man that gets ugly."
"Fine!" Hazel exclaimed. She grabbed her jacket and she and Frank headed out to the car. Frank could have sworn that he heard Piper saying "I ship it!" as they left.
