Levy stopped drawing and moved away to see Gajeels face. He blushed.
"If I tell you to do something, will you do it? Without question but right away?"
Levy didn't need to think about it "Yes. But why?",
"It's nothing, just in case."
As Levy had finished Gajeels face Juliana and Juvia came back. Juliana had an drawing on her face too. It was a connection between Levys and Gajeels. Two circles, two lines combining them and two lines across the circles.
"You're finished? Juvia and I are ready when you two are," Juliana said and examined the drawings in their heads.
The two looked each other in the eyes.
"We are" they said.
"Then let's start. I need you to stand exactly where I tell you to and to stay there until I say something else." Juliana explained.
She placed Levy and thereafter Gajeel exactly in the middle of three symbols across from each other. Juvia sat down outside the symbols. The sun had disappeared and was replaced by a shining moon. The wood was dark and the white shine made shadows on the face of them all.
Juliana stood still: "Quiet," she said and sniffed the air.
The sound of the wind blowing through the trees filled the quiet space between them.
"Alright," Juliana said softly and proceeded to the symbol-filled middle between Levy and Gajeel.
Levy, a little nervous, looked at Gajeel. He smiled at her and gave her a thumps up as a supporting "It's going to be okay." Juliana smiled at the two.
"Let's get this thing started then." She filled her lungs with air.
Then she started mumbling. The white symbols around her started shinning and lightened up. The light spread through the symbols all the way out to Levy and Gajeel. Juliana removed her hair from her eye. It lighted up in black and white.
"White to black and black to white. Bad and good it clearly sees. Ygdragori hrothugito. Lys."
Juliana said and then looked at Levy who began drifting upwards. She looked at Gajeel who did the same. She waved her hands in the air and then the symbols around the two started shining brighter, the color changing from white to red.
The light made shadow on the trees and the moon almost seemed red from their point of view. The wind was quiet, but the bright light almost seemed to make it noisy without any sound.
Juliana raised her hands to the air. Each symbol on her hands began shining as she took her hands down to her chest making a ring with her thumbs and index fingers, while holding the other fingers straight. She placed the two rings beside each other forming an Yin and Yan sign just like the one on Levy and Gajeel's faces. One hand then pointed on Levy, the other on Gajeel.
"Life is filled with millions of little lights shining. A light can shift owner, but light doesn't change. I will share my light and so will these. And we will share it even. GATHER, LIGHTS OF LIFE AND REVIVE US."
Just as in the training, Levy and Gajeel felt the magic leave their body. This time they focused on Juliana instead of a bubble. The shining light stream floated towards her chest and into it. She absorbed it with a pleased smile and closed eyes. Juvia stood by, watching the whole scene fascinated by the lights. As the stream of outgoing magic had lasted long Levy found herself becoming weak. She looked at Gajeel who seemed rather tired too.
He opened his eyes and mimicked "Hold on".
She smiled at him and mimicked: "You too."
In that moment Juliana opened her eyes. One was filled with light, the other had its yin and yan stone and shined a little too.
As she spoke her words echoed: "Levy, Gajeel, this is the part I hate the most. What you are giving me now is life. And life is not only light nor energy. Life is also and most importantly blood. Therefore I will need some of your blood in order to get through with my pact.
I must ask for your blood, I'm afraid."The two floated closer to her and they all sank to the big circle of symbols beneath Juliana.
"As I said, this is a part I hate. I must therefore ask you one last favor; please do not look at me. Would you do me the favor?"
Gajeel nodded and so did Levy. Even Juvia gave a little nod with her head.
"Gajeel, if you please?"
He obeyed and formed his finger to an iron needle. Juliana sat down, her knees on the ground. She took Gajeel's needle finger and pierced the skin on his other arm. Levy turned away as told, Gajeel closed his eyes. Juliana licked the first drop of blood from Gajeel's skin before piercing it deeper to make more blood. Levy turned with curiosity big. She saw Gajeel with closed eyes and arm forward. She saw the blood and Juliana's mouth licking it all away. At first she seemed eager to get every little drop from the wound. By looking closer Levy did however see tears running from Juliana's eyes and dripping from her chin. Her face seemed pained and regretting, but still determined to get every last drop of blood. Levy turned away. The licking and sucking sound stopped and a heavy breathing came from Juliana.
"Thanks. Levy, I'm afraid it's your turn."
