The stinging pain on my back forced me to open my eyes at long last. How long was I out? I thought to myself while scanning my surroundings.
The room I was in stank of dried blood, in which anyone could probably see from the stains on the walls and on the floor. Some were already in the process of fading away due to the length they had been left to dry on those flat surfaces. When bent my head down I saw a fresh pool of blood beneath my floating feet. That's probably mine. I thought to myself. When I looked up I saw my wrist in shackles, in order to prevent me from getting away. This dull grey, blood covered room I was in was normally called the room of solitude by everyone aside from Elder Grahm in the Institute.
"It seems that you have awoken Kleidriel." Elder Grahm came down from he stairs that reached to door of the room.
"I would've slept longer if you didn't go frenzy earlier."
"My apologies for that. But you of all people should know about the certain 'restrictions' as well as the strict punishments that comes with grave mistakes." He smiled at me.
"I know I know. I was weak to have let something pass in her school grounds." Admiting it was hard enough to bare.
"That is why we have taken some more precautionary actions"
"What do you mean?" I raised an eyebrow at him.
"I'm pretty sure you are already acquainted with Leiutenant Colonel Jonathan Weiss and Second Leiutenant Abigail Regris." Elder Grahm gave me a smirk.
My eyes widened at the sound of their names. Lt. Col. Weiss was considered one of the toughest in the army, the only reason he hasn't been promoted to a higher position was, well mainly because of me. Out of all the people assigned to rookie training why him? Abigail was okay, mainly because we got along well, but her attitude towards the people around her depend greatly on who was the highest ranking office around. She was much like a dog that followed orders from her master without another word.
"I assume they're here to train Giselle and the others." I kept my tone serious.
"Well primarily yes. Though they're also here because of you." Elder Grahm crossed his arms.
"Me?"
L
"Face it Kleidriel. You are not in your best state this time." His usual happy and gentle face has turned into one of disappointment. "They're here to once again train you to your full potential.""And I do assume that I don't have any other choice but to agree to this."
He gave me a small nod.
"I don't like this one bit."
"I know child. But we have no choice. If I were to disagree with the Council's decision, it may cost me my title."
That's what you care about the most anyway. I thought to myself. But I didn't want to say it out loud because this wasn't the time and place for it.
"So, am I free to go now?"
"You have received the proper punishment. So yes." The gentle smile he gave everyone else showed.
"How about you remove my shackles then?" I wiggled my hands.
"Kleidriel, I may be old but I am no fool. You already loosened your shackles after I spoke my first sentence and you're merely putting up with them for a show."
He was right though. The only reason why I didn't go down from my shackles as soon as the punishment started was because I wanted things to finish as soon as possible.
