one project. one silly little high school theatre project turned my life from the normal boring 15 year old routine to a sad and beautiful story, enough to write about.

Aidas POV
5:57 am
Thursday morning.
I groan as I hit snooze once again on my obscenely bright phone screen, shutting off the loud rock music I've set as my alarm tone. I swing my legs over my bed and head to the bathroom, clothes in hand, I'm definitely not prepared for the most boring 7 hours of my life.

6:45am

I'm finally ready, waking up my mess of a sister from the comforts of her bed so she can drive me to school. She groans but soon gets up and we walk to the stairs together. As we're walking downstairs she grabs the silver keys, with too many key chains from previous travels, from the teal and black ""vintage"" key holder on the side of the wall just above the marble kitchen counter. I put on my black slightly worn combat boots and head out to the warm almost summer air just to be greeted by the cold air conditioning as I sit in the dark red Honda. We pull out  of the drive way and make our way to literal hell.

12:14pm

"My god this day went by so slowly at least there's theatre next we don't do anything in that class." I think to myself. Algebra, gym and French were all boring as ever I'm so glad I have an easy class at the end of the day. I walk into the mini theatre greeted by my favourite teacher of all Mr.Noble. Being one of the first students in class is definitely worth it.
"Hi, Noble!" I say half-assed the days got me so beat. he greets me back with a smile and a hello as all my friends walk in and ambush me in hugs and hi's. The bell rings and all of us sit down and listen to the teacher speaking  about a project , we were assigned partners last class.
"... Aida and Autumn , you two will be partners for the project please memorize a scene of your choice you will be performing in 2 weeks..."
I look to my left and my partner is sitting at the back of the room talking while on her phone.
"Great," I whisper sarcastically to my closest friend  - Mary.
"I don't know how you're going to do it, but you'll have to get her to actually do her work if you wanna get an A" She laughs.
" Let's hope it's not as hard as it seems" I say nervously. God, I hope she doesn't ruin this for me.
"Alright, quiet down. Split up into your pairs and start analyzing your scripts or look for them. Don't forget I need a copy of your scripts by next period!"
I groan quietly as I roll my eyes at Mary and walk to the back of the classroom to see Autumn on her phone, listening to music - typical.
"Hey soo, what're we doing?" Autumn asks fixing her bright ginger hair.
"We're looking for scenes to memorize and then present two weeks from now" I say quite cheerily, surprising since I'm dreading this pairing.
"Alright, cool so" she drags out thinking of an idea- surprising she hasn't dumped it on me.
"Let's do something from our favourite movie? what's yours?" she asks seemingly interested in what I have to answer.
"Probably Alice in Wonderland, what about you?" I say slightly surprised in her sudden enthusiasm.
"No way! so is mine! What about something with Alice and the Mad Hatter?" she suggests "Like the balcony scene!"
"As much as I love that scene, we should do something a bit shorter and easier to memorize. It's due in two weeks" I laugh nervously, pulling a side smile.
"How about when Alice meets the White queen?" I say , my tone of excitement now slightly faltering to anxiousness as I wait for her response.
"Yeah man! come hang out this weekend we can practice the scene and get to know each other, here's my number." she writes it down on a piece of paper and hands it to me.She shuffles her things into her bag as the bell rings signalling the end of the day.
"Text me later today!" she yells while walking out the door with her two friends.
"That was interesting, she's not as bad as I thought she was" I told Mary, walking out of the front doors, into the hot sun. I put Autumns number in my phone reminding myself to text her when I get home.

3:46pm

Yawning, I wake up on my couch rubbing my tired eyes from my glorious, and well deserved might I add, nap. Looking around my surroundings I see my parents and sister are no where to be seen.
"Ella? Mom?" I yell revealing no response I grab my phone and start playing soft indie music (how typical of me). I get up from the soft fluffy blanket I was laying with to go upstairs and throw on a pair of leggings and a large tank top to go running in.

4:50
45 minutes into run
Dont stop. You need this you're body isn't perfect yet. You.Need.This.
My body was pumping the heat of the sun scorching my already tan skin as I ran and ran and ran without any intention of stopping soon.
Nothing is worth the weight you're gaining. If you don't lose it now you'll never be beautiful.
"i can't stop now, not yet"
I thought to myself as I passed yet another set of street lights. My legs are weakening from my lack of nutrition all day, it'll be worth it soon it has to be. As I'm nearing the mountain , about a 20 minute drive away from my home I realize my phone vibration against my weakened arm muscles. I slow down to a stop to drink water from my bottle gripped in my right hand and answer my phone.
"Hello? Aida where are you?" My mothers worried accented voice blared through the black headphones in my ears. I pull the speaker up to my mouth, breathing heavily I say.
"I'm out for a run I'll be home in an hour"
Her voice is calmer but still in a slight state of panic from my sudden disappearance.
"Come home in 30 minutes no questions asked" She hangs up the phone and I'm left no choice but to turn around and run home just in time
for her to not murder me for being late.

5:30
As I walk up the driveway my entire body feels of dense jello, my limbs will surely be sore tomorrow. I sigh as I weakly punch in the four-digit code to my home and walk in, kicking off my black trainers I walk up the stairs to find my mother in the kitchen making an early dinner for herself, I assume.
"Mama I'm gonna go upstairs and take a shower I'll be downstairs later." I say quite tiredly. I received a sigh and okay in response as I walk up the second set of plush carpeted stairs to my white bedroom, fairly simple for the average teenage girl. I throw a pair of red fluffy pyjama pants and a t shirt on my black and tan flowered duvet messily folded on my red twin sized mattress, almost knocking over my old guitar in its case. I grab my clothes and new cutesy undergarments and a white towel and head into the bathroom to shower.
I turned on the faucet after arranging my clothes and towel on the rack next to the tub / shower combo. Almost instantly my bathroom was filled with steam, after undressing myself from the sweaty clothing I had previously worn, I walked into the shower letting the scolding hot water relax my tense back and neck muscles. Soon, I let myself forget the voices ever came back to me.

7:00pm
I sat upstairs in my bedroom against the pillows on my bed reading Shakespeare, not for school but for fun; surprising right? As I ended Act 2 of The Tempest I set the small green book aside with my bookmark hanging out the edge. I reached for my phone to text Autumn like I said I would earlier in the day. I sent a simple "Hey! it's Aida!" and set my phone aside listening to the blurred sounds of my parents watching the television downstairs and my sister talking to her newly acquired boyfriend on the phone in the next room over. My phone lit up, looking down at the screen I see Ahtumn responded with "Hey! what's up".
We went on for hours talking like old poker buddies at a reunion. We made each other laugh , had new inside jokes and even got our scripts ready for class on Monday. All in the span of an hour and a half. I learned that she loves singing, her cats and dying her hair, she's planning on dying it blue soon. I haven't felt so comfortable with someone so quickly. I've decided to go over to her house on Saturday I'm really excited, she seems really bomb, I never thought I'd actually say that about her.
