One fine morning Gabi decided to go for a stroll around Cherengrat Square.

It was a busy part of the old town as it was always full with bustling shoppers, eccentric money makers and beggars, lots of beggars.

Gabi had just received her monthly allowance of 5 dimes and was going to buy a brand new horror story!

She had been to the old bookshop about a million times, it was a quaint little shop that was painted brown on the outside.

Many a time had Gabi pressed her nose against the window, longing to be able to afford one, at least one of the leather bound books from inside the shop.

The shop keeper was nice enough, he would allow Gabi to go in his shop for just five minutes at a time, as she was not buying anything. But today he HAD to let her stay longer for she was really going to buy a book.

Entering the bookshop, the familiar book smell that Gabi had grown up with wafted into her nostrils, to her there was nothing more magical than that.

Before I go on, let me tell you how much Gabi loved to read; she might only have had one book in her life but her passion for reading had made the power of that book immortal.

"Why hello dear Gabi!" the kindly shop owner remarked "What can I do for you today?"

"Well sir," Gabi replied exidedly,
"I'm buying a book!" She exploded.

"Well bless us all, good for you Gabi!" Chuckled the shop owner.

"May I please buy the scariest book of the lot? this time I've definitely got enough money."

Clutching the precious leather bound book to her chest she stumbled out of the shop the very picture of happiness.

But little did she know what else was waiting ahead of her.
