As little Gabi heartwell was skipping along the road as happy as can be, she heard a commotion behind her. Turning sharply, she saw what all the commotion was about.
The mine had blown up.
The girl had never ran so fast in her life.
Where was she running to?
Home...
"MOTHER!" Gabi screamed, "FATHER IS GONE!"
Her mother rushed into the room shocked
"What the hell did you just say?" her mother whispered.
"Dear father is gone," Gabi sobbed, "he's dead."
Her mother slowly sat down at the table,"what, how... how?" Her mother inquired, crying. "I was walki--" She stopped talking. Gabi had heard the key in the door slowly turning, her mother had heard it too.
Who was at the door?
Gabi suspected it to be the police coming to tell them the bad news
But it was not.
The person at the door was her father,"Hello honey, hello Gabi. Why the sad faces, something bad happened?"
Gabi's mother shrieked, "HANZ? WE THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD!"
Soon after this unlikely turn of events Gabi explained everything that she saw to her father and much to her surprise, she saw that he was just as surprised by the explosion in the mine as she was.
"But father I thought you were at work in the mines today" Gabi said.
"No, I was actually planning a surprise dinner for us all with the extra money I had earned at work. My boss even gave me the afternoon off, I was named this year's most hard working worker!"
Soon after, everything became normal for Gabi with the extra money her father had earned, they had repaired the house and were even thinking of sending Gabi to school!
She was happy again.
But there was still one thing bugging her, shortly after the mine explosion she had purchased a news paper and the headline read,'WHO IS THE MINE-MURDERER?'
Gabi ran home and showed her parents the newspaper and it turned out that someone had purposefully rigged the mines to kill all the workers.
Unfortunately, they had covered up their tracks very well so the police couldn't track down the criminal.
