Chapter 10
“Toni we’re here!” I heard someone say, lifting my head from under my duvet I saw two waayyy too over excited teens stroll into my room. Wow! How long was I asleep?
“Hey guys!” I said sitting up and stretching my arms for them too come hug me. I pulled Temi into a deep embrace and was about to do the same to Nimi.
“Who’s he?” she said as she walked over too me. Shit! I left my laptop logged on to facebook and it was still on Matthew’s profile!
“Err just a friend.” I replied, hugging her quickly then walking over to my desk to slam my laptop shut. She eyed me suspiciously but thankfully let it drop.
“Oh and by the way I’m going to be staying in your room as well” Temi piped from somewhere behind her sister. “The baby’s got a cold so mum’s letting it stay in a bed with her and there’s no way I’m sleeping in the same bed as my dad! Uhh unh.” I laughed at her and dragged them both out the room. I had completely forgotten that aunt Tayo had already had her baby.
“Let’s go downstairs so I can greet your mum before I’m threatened to get sent back to Nigeria.”

Christmas had been fun, we did all the normal family stuff; turkey and presents and the carols, I got clothes from mum and driving lessons from dad. He always gives me the best presents. Temi still continued to look at me suspiciously through it all, she had nothing to worry about anyway; Andrew had totally bailed on me, I texted him on Wednesday twice and he didn’t reply. I’m actually pretty pissed off, you just don’t do shit like that.
It was Friday and I was still in the Christmas spirit, I went over to Keisha’s that morning to give her a present. I had gotten her this new perfume that she liked but didn’t have enough money on her the time we went out. She however had gotten me these absolutely hilarious knicker set, they all had funny messages on them. One actually said ‘Rub to open’. I swear if my mum sees that in the wash she’s gonna flip!
I talked to Keesh for a while and told her all about Matthew and him not answering me. She had called him a, and I quote ‘gay little dickhead’ I laughed at her when she said that but I didn’t completely disagree with the dickhead part.
I’m so sad, here I am lying in bed thinking about some guy who probably wouldn’t even think about me twice. I got out of bed and took my clothes off, I wasn’t planning on going anywhere else today. I sighed as I rifled through my knicker drawer, the first thing I saw was one of Keisha’s presents this one was pink leopard print and it said ‘stick it in mah butt’ God, that girl was dirty. I put on my hello kitty trackie bottoms and pulled a Minnie mouse jumper over my head, I need to get another one; this was getting a little small.
I sat on my bed pouting, If you saw me now with the makeup wiped from my face I probably looked about ten. Mum was out seeing my relatives back too the airport and dad was doing some work thing so I was home alone. I sighed and walked over to my cd player. It’s not Hello Kitty, don’t worry. I put in a CD and skipped it too Nicki Minaj’s superbass. I don’t really listen to mainstream music but you gotta love her right? I started booty popping to that, well I wouldn’t really call it booty popping, more like awkward penguin dancing but I was too into it too care. I heard American Idiot playing from my phone, it was my ringtone and it drove mum crazy so I kept it.
It was Matthew. I didn’t know whether to ignore it or not I was still trying to decide but I had accidentally answered it anyway and I could hear him.
‘Hey Toni? …Is that nicki minaj? Are you there?...Toni?’
‘Yeah. Hi’
‘Listen I know you probably don’t want too talk too me right now but can you just give me a chance too explain?’
