Ryan was once again distant. I tried to talk to him in first period, but he just wouldn't talk. He wasn't even ignoring me, he just simply wasn't talking.

"Hey, thanks for coming yesterday." I say as I sit down in the desk next to his. He nods and looks at anything but my face.

"But hey, you didn't scream exactly like a little girl." I try to make a joke, but he continues to look down at his hands. I take the hint and stop talking. It made me feel bad, but I tried to ignore what might be happening and instead thought he might be sick.

As I walk to my second period class, I suddenly run face first into a chest.

"Hey, watch it!" A faux deep voice says. I look up and see Brendon smiling charmingly.

"Fuck you." I shake my head and smile.

"Okay." He says with a smirk. I roll my eyes.

"How come I've never seen you walk past here before?"

"I took a detour. Wanna be late for a second?"

"Why?"

"I wanna show you something." I turn my head  down the hall and see my second period classroom before turning back and nodding. He smiles and takes my hand. I raise my eyebrows in confusion when I see he's leading me to the parking lot. When we reach his car he stops me and covers my eyes with his hand.

"Keep em closed." He says as he moves his hand away. I shut my eyes and focus on the sounds of him shuffling through his car.

The sounds stop. "Hold up your hands." I move my hands up and I feel him put something light in my hand.

"Okay, open your eyes." When I open them I see two small pieces of paper. I bring them closer and see that they're concert tickets.

"Holy shit! You got tickets for Green Day? That must have costed a fortune!" He shrugs shyly and smiles at my excitement. I read more details on the tickets.

"Who's Fall Out Boy?" I read the name in tiny print under the headlining band's name.

"They're some small band. I haven't heard anything, but I heard they're good, too. But yeah, April 15th."

"Oh my God, this is gonna be so fucking cool, Bren. Thank you. How much was it? I have to pay you back." He shakes his head.

"No you don't. It's my treat."

"Brendon, I can't let you pay for this without me paying you back. This is more than just a little gift."

"I wanted to do this. Let me, please."

"I feel spoiled."

"I'm going to spoil you." He smiles. My stomach tightens.

"Brendon, you little asshole." I say as I try to shake off my blush. He puts his hand on his chest and pulls a fake gape.

"I buy you concert tickets and you call me an asshole. Maybe you are spoiled." He smiles evilly.

"I'm gonna go to class. I'll see you in third. Thank you." I say as I kiss his cheek and hurry back to class.

"Why were you late, Grace?" My teacher asks me as I settle into my desk.

"I ran into someone and my papers flew everywhere." I try to make an excuse. Good job, Riley, you were ten minutes late to class because you "dropped some papers". I see Ryan roll his eyes slightly as I sit down.

When class is over, I walk out and see Ryan walking in front of me. The way he was acting around me was getting under my skin. So I decided to settle it. I reach forward and pull his arm out of the crowd.

"What's wrong?" I snap when we're out of the crowd.

"N-nothing. What are you talking about?"

"I thought I got you to break out of this whole shy thing, but every time we hang out outside of class, you're always quiet the next day. What the fuck did I do this time?" He looks down at his feet and shakes his head.

"Nothing. It's just-" the bell for third period rings.

"I gotta go, come to my dorm at six." He nods and I let go of his wrist for him to walk away.

Ryan was quiet at lunch, staring at only his food as Spencer and Jon rambled about some teacher.

"Guess who's seeing Green Day, fuckers." Brendon says as he squeezes my hand under the table.

"Bullshit! How did you get tickets?" Spencer says with jealousy.

"A lot of coffee and refreshing some risky website."

"Sounds like a regular Monday night for Jon." Spencer says with a laugh.

"I hate you." Jon says as he shakes his head.

After practice I shower quickly, expecting Ryan to be getting to my dorm in a few minutes.

Then the clock passes eight.

"are you coming?" I text him. He doesn't respond.

Audrey was out, leaving me alone with some kind of guilt. The kind where you don't know what you did. I hear a knock on the door at nine-thirty, expecting it to be Audrey. When I open it I don't see the mess of pink hair I usually see.

He looks at his shoes, like he's full of shame.

"You finally decided to show up, huh?" He lets out a breathy laugh and shakes his head.

"I'm sorry." He mumbles.

"For what?"

"You're gonna hate me." He takes my hand, making my skin jump. He tugs me forward, making me invade his personal space. I look up at his face as his hand crawls up the back of my head. I'm not fighting it. I should be, but I'm not. Our lips connect and everything is quiet. We both know we shouldn't be doing this. My eyes close and I get too comfortable.

Oh my God. What am I doing?

I pull back and I stare at him, both of our eyes wide.

"Y-you need to go." I stumble. He doesn't say a word, he just walks off.

"Goodbye, Riley." He mumbles as he walks off.
