Chapter 6
Kolaria
After several minutes of lying on the ground where he had fallen, Nadran climbed to his feet. I should find somewhere to stay, Nadran thought. If I find a town, I will be safer, I will be able to get food, and I will be much more comfortable. Besides, I think that it is going to rain tonight, and I don't feel like getting soaked - even if this world is not real, I can still get wet!
Nadran started walking, then froze. Wait, I don't know where the nearest civilization IS! How can I get to a village if I don't know where it is? ...I'm getting a really strong sense of Déjà vu... So, how did I find the last village? Oh yeah... I tried to magically divine its location... and it worked... I should really get a map or something...
So... I guess I should try that again... and hope I really do have some amazing sense of direction or something like that. Nadran closed his eyes and concentrated. And nothing happened. Just as he was about to give up and try something else, he felt a small tug to his right, as if something were telling him to go right. So... was that the direction of the nearest town, my imagination, my subconscious, or a ghost? Who knows? Well, I guess I'll go that way. With that, he walked off to the right.
30 minutes later...
I think that I picked the wrong direction, Nadran thought in frustration as he hacked apart yet another [FOREST SLIME] [Lv. 3]. I have been walking all this time, yet I still have yet to find so much as a single other player. So much for my "mystic sense of direction" I was hoping I had. But I still don't know where to go to get to a town. Just as Nadran was about to about to give up walking, sit down and decide how he could find another player, he saw an end to the trees ahead of him. His slow walk quickly became a run as he approached the edge of the forest. When he burst out of the trees, he stopped suddenly. It was not a town. It was a city.
The city was large, at least 50 times bigger than the village had been. A small portion of it was made of wood, like the village, but a lot was made of bricks and metals. There were much bigger buildings than the village, and many were well over ten stories tall. There were hundreds, perhaps thousands of people all together, living in the metropolis. A large sign just outside the city stated [WELCOME TO KOLARIA!]. The streets were filled with people walking, selling goods, buying weapons, armor, food, and other necessities. There were friends conversing at restaurants, people working at jobs, and everything else you might find in a city. Instead of cars, people rode horses and other fantastic creatures, called mounts in most MMOs. Nadran closed his mouth, which had been hanging open, and walked towards the city of Kolaria.
People didn't give him a second glance as he entered the city. Nadran walked through the streets as he looked around. Nadran soon stopped in front of a 5 - story building. The sign hanging above the door read [SILVO'S RESTAURANT & INN]. After pausing for a second, Nadran walked into the building.
The inside was spacious, yet still had a cozy, homey style. There were large booths with padded seats in the restaurant section of the building, which took up the whole first floor. All of the booths were partially isolated from the others, giving a feeling of being in your own private section of the restaurant. Visible at the far end of the restaurant was a staircase that led to the rooms on the higher floors. Nadran asked for a room for one night, then walked to a booth in the corner of the room, where he sat at a circular table with a booth that curved around it, surrounding ¾ of the table. He slid into the middle of the booth, then sat down, laying his upper torso, head, and arms on the table.
