Chapter 7: Wall of Monsters

It was like the village attack all over again, except on a much larger scale.  Instead of about fifty players against an army of enemies, it was hundreds of players against a horde of enemies.  Nadran reached the city to find it completely surrounded by all kinds of creatures from the forces of darkness.  They formed a solid wall ringing the city, preventing anyone from escaping… and Nadran was on the outside.

I need to help them, Nadran thought desperately.  I can’t let everyone die again!  Nadran drew his swords, then charged into the wall of monsters.

Nadran did not shout out a battle cry; the monsters were facing inwards, towards the city, and did not see him.  Shouting would only alert them to his presence and make it that much harder to get through the wall.  Instead, he sprinted silently towards what looked like the weakest part of the “monster barrier,” swords at the ready.

The first creature in his path was a [KOBOLD WARRIOR] [Lv. 4].  Kobolds are creatures that somewhat resemble goblins, but their skin is a sickly peach – orange color, and they have exceptionally long arms that often hang down in front of them, almost brushing the ground.  They always appear to be hunched over, their head almost even with their shoulders.  Kobolds mainly fight with their large arms, wielding weapons with a large reach to add to their already long arms, so it is hard to stay out of range of their weapons.  They also use their arms to catapult themselves at their enemies, making escape from them and their large weapon range almost impossible.  The Kobold before Nadran, unsurprisingly, had its arms hanging in front of it, a spear clutched in its hand.  It had not noticed him and was facing inwards with the rest of the creatures, unaware of the coming attack.

Nadran ran silently up behind the Kobold and impaled it with both his swords, one through where its heart would be, and the other through its neck.  Where you hit in ADO greatly affects the amount of damage you do, based on what would realistically be the most effective if the creature were real.  Nadran stabbed through the Kobold in two of its “critical spots” at once, completely destroying it before it knew it was being attacked.  Next was a [GOBLIN SCOUT] [Lv. 3].  Nadran sliced straight through its neck, and it shattered.  Other creatures had started to notice him as Nadran continued his reckless charge through the wall, cutting a path through the monsters.

After the ten seconds it took for the creatures to notice him, recognize him as a threat, and turn towards him, the monsters converged on him.  Thus begun a deadly dance with Nadran at its center.  The creatures attacked him from all sides, and Nadran had to avoid all of it at once by jumping, ducking, and weaving side to side, dodging ten attacks at once.  At the same time, he had to retaliate with his swords or use them to block attacks, all while trying to get through the rest of the wall to the city.

Nadran managed to take down some of them, but more replaced them, and he was no closer to entering the city, and although his dodging skill was admirable, he was slowly accumulating injuries; a cut on his cheek, a slice on his side, a scratch on his left leg, a bruise on his left elbow.  His health was decreasing as well; it was at 82% and slowly decreasing as his wounds increased.  I won’t be able to make it, I won’t even last another minute at this rate!
