Jay ran. As fast as he could. He couldn't be stopped. That thing wasn't going to catch him. No. He had already seen too many of its victims left behind. Mangled corpses, looking inhuman. No. He thought. He had to keep those thoughts away. He had been running for what felt like hours, down the streets of his small Maine town. The monster behind him was approaching rapidly. It was long, like a snake, but with multiple short little legs that splayed out to the sides. It was slimey and jet black, with two red eyes on the side of its much too large head. Its jaws had rows upon rows of needle-like teeth. In a word, terrifying. This thing had already mauled Jay's brother, Father, and bestfriend, Cory. He watched in horror as they were viciously ripped apart while still living. Jay turned a corner into an alley. He stopped to catch his breath, straining to hear the slithering and hissing of the creature. "I can hear you. I can smell you. You can't run from me, Jay Harowitz." The voice said. It was cold and metallic, the fabric of nightmares. Jay backed up into the brick wall. It was 8 feet tall, easy. Can I reach that? He thought. he jumped, but couldn't get a grip. The creature turned the corner into the alley. "Found you!" Jay scrambled, trying to get up. It was no use. The monster was on him in seconds.
