I ran as fast as I could. I didn't look back. I could see Felix up ahead, at least he was safe. He started to slow down and I quickly caught up with him. "Hey, you okay?" I asked, slowing to a walk.
"Yeah, I'm.. fine." He said. He seemed... distracted.
"No, you're not." I grabbed his shoulders and caused him to look at me. "Tell me. Now."
His eyes softened. "They got Ken."
My eyes widened in shock. "What?!"
He nodded sadly and then dropped his head and started to sob. "He's gone, Cry! There's nothing we can do!" He wailed. I pulled him closer, hugging him. He cried into my shoulder. "He's gone..."
I stood up straight and pushed him away. "No he's not. We don't know if he's dead and I sure as HELL am not giving up this easily. I am going after him. You don't have to, but I am."
"What if they get you?" He sniffled.
"Then that would suck!" I replied. "But I'll live."
"How can you be so sure?" Felix asked, tears in his eyes.
"Because I will. I have too much crap left to do to die now."
I turned away and started back down through the tunnel we had come through.
"Wait!" Felix cried. He ran up to me and gave me a rib-crushing hug. "I'm coming with you."
"Are you scared?" I asked, nervous for his safety.
"Don't even worry 'bout it Cry." He said, smiling. It made me smile to hear his old phrase again. I sighed.
"Okay. If you need anything, I'll protect you. I promise."
"Mmhmm."
So we set off to find Ken.
