"It's time." She said
Raising her head from the hospital bed.
"It's time for us to make amends.
I hope that we still can be friends."
She sighed a small sigh, and took a deep breath
Knowing that soon she'd be greeted by death.
"I'm sorry I wasn't the girl that you needed
I ignored your feelings, I was extremely concieted.
You deserve sombody better than me.
At least, after this, you can be free."
"No!" He shouted, his voice full of hurt
His tears had been staining his yellow teeshirt.
"You've always been perfect, no doubt in my mind.
You always showed courage, you always were kind.
I cannot believe we're having this here.
You in the hospital was my greatest fear."
She smiled softly, looking right through his soul.
The pretty blue color he'd known had faded so old.
She'd just turned 19, a whole life to live.
Why'd this happen to her? Why couldn't it have been him?
All she was doing was just walking home.
He shouldn't have let her go all alone.
That stupid drunk bastard that thought they could drive
And now, suddenly, his only love was going to die.
"I'm so sorry, Ellie, it's me who's to blame."
"No it's not, Darren, don't be ashamed.
It's nobody's fault, that's the story I'll stick to.
It's the same one that I want for you.
I know that I'm dying, I'm not that thick.
It'll be quite soon, I just hope that it's quick.
I know it's my time, and all I want to say,
Is just remember me, on this Christmas Day."
He nodded his head, seeing the snow through the window.
It had started to grow dark, he barely noticed, though.
Today was Christmas, after all
He couldn't be happy, since his world started to fall.
