It was Wednesday night and Jennifer was sitting on the couch mindlessly flipping through channels. Jamie was out of the house for the night leaving Jennifer to mope around. Since meeting Aaryn, Jennifer's social life had taken a major hit. She tried to see what her old friends were up to, but was left with unanswered messages. In a final attempt to get out the house she called her friend Jade.
"Hey Jade! What's up?" She tried not to sound too excited
"Jen? Well look who crawled out of Aaryns ass." Her tone was short and sarcastic
"Chill, I'm just tryna see what you're getting into tonight."
"Why?"
"I haven't seen you in a while and I don't want spend another night in old sweats alone. Again." She half laughed.
"Hm. Okay Jen, I'm getting ready to go to this bar downtown, I'm meeting this girl from Tinder and I could use a friend just in case it's not what I expected it." Jades voice went from bitter to excited
"Yeah, that sounds like fun I'll get dressed now, pick me up in forty-five?"
"See you then."
They hung up then Jennifer hopped in the shower quickly, before turning her closet inside out. She didn't want to draw to much attention to herself, and she didn't want to get too dressed up just in case Jade thought she was trying to out dress her. She settled on dark blue boyfriend jeans, an olive green crop top, and black heels. She decided to wear her hair in a curly fro, Jennifer did a spin in the mirror and felt satisfied that she was the perfect amount of comfy and sexy.
Jennifer got the come outside text, and left.
"Hey, you look nice." Jennifer smiled getting into the car.
"You too I like the hair" Jade gave Jennifers hair a playful toss.
"So tell me about this girl." Jade pulled off.
"She's cute, in her own way, um, she seems cool though."
"Wait you don't know anything about this girl do you?" Jennifer turned in the passenger seat to face Jade.
"I do, kind of. I mean its Tinder Jen, it's more for hooking up than falling in love." She laughed
"Riiiight." Jens eyes went wide
"Listen just be my back up, not my judge and jury. And don't ditch me." Jade said matter of fact.
"Chill, I'm not even talking to Aaryn at the moment I got you." She put her hands up in defense.
"Cool we're here get your ID out."
They walked into the bar, it was loud, and packed with sweaty bodies. Jennifer looked around for a place to put their jackets and sit. There was a table in the back.
"Over here Jade." They pushed through a group of drunk people dancing off beat.
"How do you know where to find her?"
"I'm gonna tell her where our table is. Duh."
"I'm going to get a drink don't run off anywhere." Jennifer walked away and made her way to the bar. It took several seconds to get the bartenders attention, and some yelling.
"Can I get a patron and Ginger ale please?" She leaned against the bar waiting patiently.
When the bartender returned with the drink she went in her pocket to pay. Before she could hand the bartender the cash someone paid the bill for her. She looked up confused and then tried to hand the money to the stranger.
