CHAPTER 17: PRACTICE TIME

"We have chosen..." my heart begun to be beat faster as Key trailed off. Would it be me?

"Joon Seo Yeon!" Onew announced. My eyes flashed open and I could see all eyes were turned to me as everyone smiled and clapped but there was a couple of girls glanced at me, their stares filled with jealousy. Huh, what happened? Who did he call out? No way, he called my name, my name! It was me!

"Gomaisimnida (thank you)," I stuttered once I had found my voice and bowed low and smiled happily as my cheeks burned. I didn't believe that out of all the girls I was the one chosen. How was that possible?

"Kaja (let's go), class!" Seonsaengnim ordered, clapping her hands and everyone scattered to their positions on the dance floor as I stood their stunned. I could just not register what just happened. Did it really happen?

My friends and I were sitting at a central table in the noisy cafeteria and everyone had to basically yell at each other for them to hear it over the loud noise. I was sitting at the edge of the table with my shoulders slouched and head down as I begun to pick at my food with my chopsticks.

"I got it," I whispered to myself in disbelief as if repeating it would trick me into thinking it was true, "I actually got it."

"You got what?" asked Sun and my head shot up in surprise. My eyes were round and my lips ajar as all the friends at the table stopped what they were eating, stopped their conversation and turned their attention towards me.

"I was the one chosen to be featured in SHINee's new music video," I said robotically as if I had been hypnotized.

"Omo! Well done!" cheered Sun with a wide grin as she and Min Ah gave me a congratulatory hug.

"Thanks girls, I'm so happy," I nuzzled into Min Ah's shoulder and I couldn't help a big grin spread onto my lips.

"You're so lucky! What a big opportunity for you!" Min Ah stated as she released me from our embrace, she's always thinking about what you'll get out of something and not for the fun of it.

"Now I have after school practices to learn the choreography and this weekend we're going to shoot," I stared into thin air as I thought about it and how it would be like working with SHINee.

"Wow... It's totally, like, your big break!" Sun laughed and Min Ah and I joined in with her.

As I put the remainders of my food into the bin and the tray onto the table, I saw Kim Hyun Joong sitting on a bench with a hot coffee in his hand, sitting comfortably on his knee.

"Hi," I said quietly as I walked up to Joong and sat beside him, but not too close.

"Hey," he mumbled and sipped on his coffee.

We sat there in silence since I had no idea what to say. Why did I even come here in the first place? We met each others eyes and I flashed a small smile as I stood up to leave. As I took one step away I felt a hand grab my wrist and turn me around. I realised that it was Joong's hand that had grabbed mine and I looked at him with confusion.
