The light from the oncoming car blinds me and I find myself putting my arms in front of me as a shield.

The next thing I know, I am at the sidewalk. I slowly put my arms down. Renesmee steadies me as I feel my knees still buckling under me.

As I stabilize my self on my own two feet, I turn to her. My shock unmasked. I can see her eyes full of terror, she stands in front of me rooted to the ground.

My hands grab her shoulders and I shake her gently. "What happened, Ren? How did you do that?"

"I...." her lips are getting paler, "You were about to be hit by the car...and....I just....reacted..." She looks scared. Her eyes move from my eyes down to her feet. "I shouldn't be here," she tries to run but I catch her hand first.

"Let's talk inside," I don't let go of her hand as we go back up to the apartment.

Yugyeom is waiting for us by the door when we entered. "Where did you find her? Are you ok?" I can see now why my parents would have treated him as their son. Even with what transpired earlier, he still shows concern towards me.

"We're ok. You can go rest now," I pat him on the shoulder.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, Yugyeom. Thanks."

I lead Renesmee up to her room and let her sit on the bed. I close the window, just to make sure she doesn't jump out again and lock the door.

I pull up a chair in front of her.

"Is there something you want to tell me?" I say in my most gentle voice. I don't want to show how shocked I am at what I just witnessed.

"I'm," she takes a deep breath, "not normal."

"I can see that. How...not normal are you?"

She fumbles with her fingers and bites her lips. "Promise me one thing first."

"Anything."

"Don't freak out."

As if I'm already not, I try to compose myself and look relaxed. "I promise."

"Mark, I'm not 100 percent human." She stares at my eyes and waits for my reaction.

"What do you mean not 100 percent human? Are you half robot?"

She smirks. "No, silly." Then her face becomes serious again. "My parents, were not human."

"Just say it, babe." I don't want this suspense.

"My father, you saw his picture, he's a...." she closes her eyes for a sec then opens them again, "a vampire."

I don't know if I'm gonna run out the door, or laugh. Is she kidding me? Vampires don't exist. In what era does she live in?

"I know you don't believe me," she tries to stand up but I manage to pull her down.

"Continue," however ridiculous her story is, I still want to hear it.

She puts her hand on my cheek and just looks straight at my eyes. At first I don't understand. But, then I can see images.

Her mother, a little different from what she looked like on the picture I saw, very thin and sick. Her belly bulging fast as she grows thinner and thinner. Then her father and another girl, I saw her in one of the family pictures, pulling out the baby. Her, as a baby, biting her mother as soon as she sees her. Then images of her growing up faster than normal. Her, running fast as she learns how to hunt. Her, feeding on animals' blood.

She pulls off her hand and I don't even notice it. I just stare at her in astonishment as the images replay in my mind. She waits for me until I find my voice.

"Is this real?" I sound stupid.

"Yes, Mark. This is the real me." She moves closer to me and takes my hand. "Now, tell me you still want me after you saw what I really am."

I sit there, still stunned, shocked, surprised.

She lets go of my hands and moves to the closet where she takes out her clothes and puts them in her bag.

It takes me a while to recover. I stand up and slowly walk behind her. I know what I'm feeling and it feels right. I wrap my arms around her waist. "Don't leave me," I whisper softly in her ear.

She stops what she was doing for a minute and then resumes. "Mark, you don't know what you're saying. You might still be in a shock. You don't have obligation over me."

I turn her around so we're face to face. "Ren, whatever I saw doesn't matter. I am asking you to stay with me not because I owe you my life, but because I want you IN my life. I will not leave you, babe. I will NEVER leave you."

I pull her towards me, her face buried on my chest.
