I checked on Ann one last time before heading back to the hotel where our manager is waiting.

The flight back to Korea is long. I've had time to think about everything. Renesmee is going to call me everyday to update me on what's going on.

Ann still insists that I'm the father of her unborn baby. Am I? Really? I need to check on Peniel as soon as I get back.

What would I do if it turns out I'm the father? What would Renesmee think? Would she still accept me?

"We're here," my manager wakes me up from my short nap.

The minute we step out of the airport, I phone Peniel.

"Hey, man. I'm back."

"Great. Let's meet up." Peniel gives me an address of a restaurant not far from his company.

I give the guy a hug as soon as I see him.

"So, did you go see her?" He asks me, signaling the waiter to take our order.

"Yes, I did. She really is pregnant, but she still tells me it's mine."

"That's BS. Do you remember doing it with her four months ago?

"I don't know..." I really can't remember.

"You didn't. I'd know if you would. You're a kiss-and-tell. The last time you did it was over five months ago."

I look at him, puzzled at what other stories I've told him.

He continues, "I don't know how she convinced you at first that it was yours. I'm pretty sure you were head over heels for her, you bought her story almost instantly. Only when you found proof that she's sleeping with another guy, that you started believing me.

"I texted you before you left for Brazil. You haven't told her that you wanted to break up with her and that you wanted to talk to her parents to cancel the wedding. I told you to tell her before boarding the plane. I don't really know if you did."

I just sit there, listening. Did I?

"When you were away, I followed up on Jun. He's just made his debut with a group last month. Do you remember him?"

I nod. I remember his smirking face when I met him a week before the accident. I talked to him about Ann's pregnancy. He denied it, of course.

"He said it's not his either."

"Of course he would say that. He was about to debut that time."

"What other proof do you have?"

He hands his phone, he shows me a screenshot of Ann's messages to Jun. The last messages are clear.

A: Stay out of this. We're getting married.

J: It's mine. You know it.

A: You don't know anything. Mark and I are getting married and we're gonna have a family.

J: I love you.

A: Please, just stop.

"How'd you get this?" My head is starting to throb again.

"You sent it to me. You went through her phone when you visited her."

"Who else has a copy of this?"

"Jackson."

"Jackson," he's laying on the bed. He looks up at you with tired eyes. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Ann."

"You already went to see her, didn't you?"

"Why didn't you tell me about the messages?"

He sits up straight, he looks nervous. "What messages?" His voice is shaking.

"You know what I'm talking about."

He stays quiet for a whole minute. Suddenly you remember something. He's Ann's cousin. How could you forget?

"You did it on purpose?"

"Mark, I don't want to see her having a baby without a dad. You know how much she loves you."

"But, you also know it could not be mine."

"How can you say that? You're his boyfriend. How can you deny her and the baby?"

"Jackson, I'm just saying it might not be mine. Besides, you know about her and Jun."

"She told me she hasn't slept with that guy."

"And you believe her?"

"Of course. She's my cousin for Christ's sake."

"What if she's keeping it from you, too?"

"She'd never do that."

Renesmee calls that night to tell me they're still ok. They're somewhere in Italy with her aunt. They had to leave Seth behind, but they made sure he was safe before leaving him.

"I miss you, baby."

"I miss you, too, Mark. Is everything ok? You sound ill."

"I'm fine. Just a little tired from the trip. Any news?"

"I'm not sure yet. Aunt Alice told me to wait in the hotel. She went to talk to somebody earlier, she hasn't come back yet." She sounds worried.

"What time did she leave?" I'm starting to worry, too.

I hear a door in her side of the line open, then close. "She's here. I'll call you again tomorrow. I love you."

"I love you, babe."

The chill from the window wakes me up in the middle of the night. I don't remember if I closed that window before going to bed earlier. Standing up, I notice my phone isn't beside me anymore. After talking to Renesmee, I put it beside my pillow. It's not there anymore. I search for it under the bed, thinking I might have knocked it off the bed, it's not there. I search everywhere in the room but couldn't find it.

"Jackson," I go to the other room to see if Jackson got it. Why would he? But I check anyway.

"Hmmm?" His sleepy eyes look questioning at me.

"Did you take my phone?"

"No, dude. I didn't go back to your room after we talked."

"Shit."

My heart is starting to beat faster. I go back to the room and check the open window. How could someone come up the room through the window and take my phone? Or could it have come in the apartment through the door and jumped off the window?

FUCK! I think I know what came in my room.
