Time for the first game we get to play together...I'm so excited!
...
I backed away slowly as the darkness started to materialize into a physical form. Whatever it was, it was constantly screaming in agony and rage...
It was shaped like a human, but the entity was pitch-black. Once the being was finally formed, it advanced slowly towards me. I knew that pounding the door down wouldn't help, so all I could do was run away from it in this confined room.
Suddenly, the laughter of a little girl echoed across the room. The monster looked up to the ceiling, where her laughter was coming from.
Was this...Alyssa?
The darkness that surrounded the creature disappeared, and I finally saw what this monstrosity was.
It was...me.
It looked exactly like me, with his brown hair slightly covering his eye, both of them were the same shade of green. There were differences though, the most notable being that he was covered in blood, and he had a maniacal smirk on his face.
The little girl's high pitched and slightly infuriating voice echoed across the room once again.
"Welcome, one and all, to the first game in a little show I like to call...torture!"
...What the hell?
What kind of sick and twisted joke was this? Am I in some kind of game show and there's a camera crew hiding behind the scenery.
"This game is very simple. It ends when both of you die!" She chanted in a singsong voice.
The creature suddenly floored me, I was so taken by surprise that I couldn't retaliate. Once I did finally regain the ability to fight, things were still hopeless. He was so much stronger than I was, and he stopped me with ease.
I screamed in pain as he grabbed my arm and started biting my arm furiously like a cannibal, his sharp teeth were digging deep into my flesh. I managed to get him off me, but there was still a large bite mark on it with blood relentlessly pouring out of it.
I got my revenge by punching him as hard as I could in the face. However, as I did this, I immediately felt like I was being punched in the face myself. He was the only one with the bruise though, and it made no sense since he didn't even touch me that time...
The creature was clutching it's arm in pain, sobbing loudly. What made this uncomfortable was that he still had that evil smirk on it's face while doing it, in contrast to it's eyes which were watering up and filled with sadness.
Maybe...maybe we both shared the same pain? Like we were connected somehow. So many questions in my head, I needed someone to answer my them. The only person capable of doing that was...
Alyssa started laughing again, still invisible to the human eye.
"Where are you?!" I screamed at the sky, hoping to a response.
"I'm somewhere, deep inside your miiiind~"
"Show yourself, you coward!" I shouted with all the energy I could muster.
"Hehe, impatient, aren't we? I think you should have some fun with your new friend first. Besides, it's far too early for that now, you should wait until a few more chapters!"
What...what kind of ghost is this?
I soon realised that I had more concerns than Alyssa, the creature tackled me to the ground, almost breaking my back. It screamed loudly as it did this, obviously feeling the same pain as I did...
As I was lying on the ground feeling intense pain, the creature looked down at me. Looking at it properly, it smirk seemed like it was forced, and I could see the pain in its eyes.
"Y-you don't have to do this..."
He didn't reply, all he did was watch as I struggled to get up.
"W-we can stop Alyssa together...please...don't do this..."
An axe suddenly fell from the sky, hitting the ground with a loud thud. The creature picked it up, then, Alyssa said those final words...
"Kill him."
...Was it really going to end this way?
I knew that the creature didn't want to do this, I could still see the suffering in his eyes. I had no idea what Alyssa was doing to it, but it seemed to obey her orders without question.
It tried to stop smirking, but his face seemed to be frozen permanently in place.
It was ready to kill. I was it's next victim.
I waited for it to deliver the final blow.
***...I heard the axe drop to the ground once again. Did he have a change of heart?
As I looked up, the creature still had it's smirk, but there was no axe in it's hand. It held out it's blood stained hand, helping me up.
I grabbed his hand, despite the fact that he could still be in Alyssa's control. He held me tightly, and whispered:
"Help me."
If only I knew what I was supposed to do, how the hell do I escape this place?
My thoughts were interrupted while I heard a tantrum from up above.
"No no no no no! T-this wasn't supposed to happen!" Alyssa screamed angrily from up above.
I couldn't help but smirk as her plan was foiled, if only I could see her while she was this frustrated.
"It's fine...we can just start a new game instead..." She muttered to herself.I then realised that what the creature did probably wasn't a good idea. It knew this too, because he was shaking in fear.
"Very well then...since you don't seem to like following the rules...we'll just have to play a new game instead!"
Suddenly, the floor tiles started to fall down one by one, creating a large gaping hole to what seemed like a bottomless pit where we fall endlessly to our death. The size of this hole continued expanding, soon the idea floor would be...gone.
"So, here are the rules to this new game: who can go the longest without falling to their well deserved death?"
I tried forcing the door open once again, but it still wouldn't budge. Then the creature successfully made a hole in the door with his axe, but he didn't have much time to make the hole big enough to climb through, as the floor was almost completely gone.
After we both made a hole big enough, we frantically climbed through the hole to the other side, I heard Alyssa's laughter echoing all around us, like she was some kind of omnipresent being.
We weren't safe yet. Not even close to that.
