After staring at the disturbing message before me, still shocked and in a state of confusion, I decided that I had to examine it.

Who would do something like this though? The only person who's ever been out to get me was Claudia, and she faints at the sight of blood.

But what if it wasn't blood?

And more importantly, if it was, who's blood was smeared on the wall?

I tried rubbing the blood stained wall with my finger, hoping to get a taste of the mysterious red substance. But unfortunately I couldn't since it was dry.

Maybe my previous suspicions were right all along. Maybe there was something odd about this mansion...

But what could I do now? How would my mother react if she entered my bedroom in the morning and saw this? It's not every day you see a message written in blood in your son's bedroom.

Fear started taking over, I had to react quickly, hopefully whatever caused this wouldn't strike again. The only thing I could do now was wake my mother up and let her see this for herself. It was risky, but it was the only option.

But that would mean leaving my bedroom, and who knows what horrors would await me on the outside. Then again I wasn't exactly safe here either.

You can do this. Stop being paranoid.

I glanced at the bloody message one last time before slowly opening the bedroom door, poking my head out to make sure there was nothing hiding in the hallways.

I was almost upset that the obnoxious music in the room next to me stopped playing, the silence made the place highly unsettling. As I slowly crept around the hallways, I could tell how creepy this place was when night fell, at least compared to the innocent looking facade of peace and tranquillity that we see during the day.

There's always something that goes bump in the night, hiding from the daylight.

It was really cold too, as I continued searching the mansion for my mother's room I started feeling chills running down my spine. The fact that I was barefoot wasn't helping either, the icy floor pierced the soles of my feet with every step I took.

I had some difficulty seeing my surroundings since my visibility seemed to drop drastically when I was in the dark. I almost tripped and fell on the staircase, I managed not to fall but my feet started to hurt afterwards.

For a moment I thought I would be trapped in an endless maze of hallways that look almost identical, but it wasn't long before I heard snoring coming from the other room.

I opened the door and turned on the light switch that was next to me, illuminating the room. My mother reacted instantly to this, quickly rising from her slumber while muttering things that I couldn't understand.

It took a while for her to regain her senses. But once she did her face was not a pleasant one, she looked like she was ready to explode from rage.

"What on earth are you doing at this time of night?"

"S-sorry, I just..."

"You have school tomorrow! And I have to wake up and get ready just to take your sorry ass over there!"

I swear she was a completely different person when she's tired, usually she's cold, uptight, and never swears in front of me or Claudia. I wonder how her colleagues would react if they saw her like this.

"I need to show you something."

"Now? Have you completely lost your mind?"

"It's really important..."

"Can't it wait until the morning?"

"There's something in my bedroom I need you to see."

"You know what, fine. But if this is another one your silly ghost stories..."

I couldn't help but smirk, now I could finally prove her wrong, that the supernatural really do exist.

But getting to the bottom of this mystery was the most important thing.

...

I waited in anticipation as we both stared directly at my bedroom door, ready to witness what was behind it.

"I just want to say that what you're going to see in there might be disturbing..." I warned my mother, shuddering as I remembered the first time I saw that message.

She chuckled grimly.

"It better be."

I placed my hands over my eyes as she entered my bedroom, waiting to see how she would react.

"What exactly am I supposed to be looking at?" she asked me from the other room.

...Wait, what? Couldn't she see the message? It wasn't exactly an easy thing to miss.

I entered the bedroom myself, and I almost couldn't believe what I saw. Or to be more accurate, what I didn't see.

There was nothing written on the wall.

The message was gone, it was like it never even existed.

How is that possible?

I gazed into my mother's jet black eyes, desperate for her to believe my words.

"I-I swear...there was a message, and...it was written on the wall with something t-that looked like blood..."

"ENOUGH!"

I was taken by surprise at her sudden outburst, and I ended up staring the floor feeling ashamed of myself.

"I'm sick of hearing about your foolish ghost stories, you're 15 now, you should just forget about this nonsense."

"But..."

"I said forget about it!" she demanded. There was no chance of me fighting back, nothing I say would change anything.

"P-please..." I muttered to myself, as a small tear fell down my cheek. She ignored me and left, leaving me alone in my haunted bedroom.

I know what I saw, there was no way that the message couldn't be real. The fact that it somehow vanished made the possibility of there being a ghost even more likely.

I kept reciting the words in my head. Fun is infinite, fun is forever, fun is endless.

The ghost might be having fun, but I'm certainly not.
