Thirteen...such an unlucky number. Especially for Owen...
...
"W-what's happening to them..." I asked myself, panicking as the black substance pulsated around them, it looked like they were transforming...
"...This is what you get for trying to get involved in things that aren't any of your business..."
"Alyssa..." I muttered under my breath. Once again she was watching to me and speaking from up above.
"You have no idea where you are, do you? This is the inside of Claudia's memories. Altering what's already happened is not an option."
"Why didn't you tell me that?!"
"Hehe, it's more fun this way! But this should be a fair fight, so..."
I heard a clang as something dropped on the ground, as I looked closer I realised that it was a silver sword.
"It's not like it would help you in this situation...but the readers like action, so who am I to refuse them that?"
I picked it up, it wasn't too heavy, and the silver was absolutely spotless, but I felt like there was some kind of catch. There usually is when it comes to these twisted games.
I watched in horror as the black substance that was enveloping everyone was gone. Now, they were all walking corpses with red eyes and decaying flesh. Each one of them was advancing towards me, ready to kill.
One of them stretched their hands out, ready to grab me, but I mercilessly slashed at him before I could. I did the same with the two that were next to him.
As I did this the black substances oozed out of them, and they collapsed on the ground.
I felt a chill run down my spine as one of them was grabbing my shoulder, and before he could do more I quickly turned around and pierced his chest.
Waves of corpses continued lumping towards me, and one by one I put them to rest. This was almost too easy...
It wasn't long before all of them stopped moving, the floor was now covered with that same black substance.
"Heh, is that the best you can do?" I shouted to the sky, and I was sure that Alyssa would hear me.
I ran towards the door and I tried getting out, but it was locked. Obviously, she could do much better than what I thought.
She laughed at my struggling.
"Such a fool...you didn't think it would be that easy, did you?"
I gasped as the sword in my hand turned into hundreds of small beetles, as soon as it did I frantically shook my arm so that they would all fall to the ground. Alyssa's cackles echoed through the room once more.
"That was just to make you believe that you actually had a chance of survival, only for you to realise that you don't."
The walking corpses got back up, and their wounds were no longer there. It's like I never even touched them...
"Violence leads to more violence. Once you learn how to solve your problems without it, you'll find a way."
What? How was I supposed to defeat these things without violence? If I don't, then who knows what these things will do to me once I'm finally in their decayed hands?
It was obviously just one of her tricks, she was trying to get my guard down so that the corpses could end me.
I had no weapon to defend myself or attack the enemy since Alyssa took it away, but maybe there were some alternatives...
