Mitch was on a date with his boyfriend, Nick. He'd been trying to break up with him for a while but didn't have the heart to do it.
See, every time he tried to do it, Nick would get confused.
Mitch just wanted to go to MacLaren's and hang out with his friends. Kirstie and Avi, the group's power couple, Scott, his best friend, and Kevin, who's just been trying to find a wife but has had horrible luck doing it.
"Nick, I guess what I'm trying to say is-"
Mitch was interrupted by the sound of a door swinging open behind him. He looked behind only to see Scott, and his mind began racing to what he could possibly be doing here.
"I'm in love with Mitch." He spoke.
"You what?" Nick asked.
"I'm in love with-"
"No, I heard you. But I think you're bluffing."
"Oh, I love him, Nick." Scott crossed his arms.
"No he doesn't, Nick, he's just trying to help me..."
"I love everything about him, and I'm not a guy who says that lightly." Scott began.
"I'm a guy who has faked love his entire life. I thought love was just something idiots thought they felt, but this man has a hold on my heart that I could not break if I wanted to. And there have been times that I wanted to. It has been overwhelming and humbling and and even painful at times." Scott rambled, tears slowly forming in his eyes.
"But I could not stop loving him any more than I could stop breathing. I am hopelessly, irretrievably in love with him. More than he knows." Scott finished, looking at Mitch.
"I'm in love with you, Mitchie."
Mitch was taken aback by Scott's behavior, then looked to Nick.
"I should go," he said, before leaving with Scott.
A few minutes later they were outside MacLaren's, walking.
"Thanks for that," Mitch said. "I couldn't do it myself, he didn't understand any of my metaphors."
"Thanks for what?" Scott stopped walking.
"For doing that for me. Breaking up with Nick for me."
Scott looked confused for a few seconds before realizing what Mitch had said.
"Oh, uh, you're welcome." He smiled shyly before looking at his feet.
"What's wrong, Scottie?"
"Nothing, it's just that-" Scott let out a breath. "It wasn't my point to break up with Nick for you. If I'm
being totally honest, I thought you'd already broken up with him before I went in there like that. My goal wasn't to make a scene like that, it was to confess my love to you."Mitch stood there for a second, processing what Scott was saying.
"So you really meant all of that? All of what you said?"
"Mhm."
They stood in silence for about a minute or two, both of their minds thinking about what had just happened.
Mitch felt it was getting awkward, so he broke the silence.
"I'm in love with you too." He said quietly. "I didn't want to take the risk of dating my best friend, but, I'll take it." He laughed.
Scott leaned in and kissed Mitch passionately, as if it had been something he'd been missing his whole life.
"I'll take the risk, too." Scott said.
HIMYM!!!! (different ending tho!!)
