Different

I had always been different. Everyone said something was wrong with me. My whole life was that story. I was weird. I didn't show my feelings. I didn't talk. I didn't have any friends. Well I was sick of that life. I was always being bounced back and forth from foster homes. I told any guy that talked to me to screw off. I was seventeen and only six months from being free. People avoided me. I avoided them. I sat on buildings and stayed up till dawn. I was never hungry or tired, only by choice. I found school useless. I had given up years ago. Although I realized I had magical powers when I was nine.

I had wanted a pet cat. I really wanted a pet cat. Then one day as I was laying in my bed I had imagined having my own cat. Kittens were cute but I had wanted a cat. I had imagined a cat purring on my stomach. I almost screamed when I saw the cat I had been thinking about.

He had golden yellow eyes, black ears and was pure white. I remember smiling. My newfound friend needed a name. "Apollo, greek god of the sun and music." Well when my foster parents had found out about Apollo I simply left with him. Of course some cop had my picture and brought me in.

At least my new parents didn't care about me. They lived just between town and the country. I sat on the rooftop with Apollo. We stared further out into the rolling hills and fields of the country. "In six months I can go that way. I can leave. We can be free." Apollo nuzzled my arm. Apollo always cheered me up.
