Kendall blushed, and grabbed the paper away.

"Thanks, Kendall. You saved my life, literally."

"Welcome. I'm going. I'll see you soon, Cara," she said, getting up to leave, but before she knew it, Cara was sitting up right and she was caught in Cara's arms.

"What...?" She managed to stutter. Cara shot her a worried look, before furrowing her eyebrows and frowning at Kendall.

"Kenny, you okay? You collapsed. "

"What...? That can't...I didn't Cara. Why-"

"Kenny are you saying I'm lying? You must've blacked out for a second. You literally stood up and fell. Lucky I had quick reflexes. " Kendall searched Cara's eyes for any sign of joking, but it was only filled with worry and anxiety.

"I'm fine, thanks Cara. I..." Kendall had the edge of the bed, and tried standing up, gripping onto the cool metal edge tightly. She congratulated herself in her mind when she was able to stand, with Cara's hand still on hers. Kendall checked herself for a moment, before propping herself up. She grabbed her purse, and started to walk to the door.

"Kenny, where are you going?"

"I...I'll stay for a while here. Maybe find a hotel or somewhere, I don't want to disturb you 24/7, you know. Get some rest. I'll be fine, Cara. "

"Kenny, no. Stay here. Stay with me. I want company. It sucks being alone. Please..." And as Cara replied, she knew, that Cara was doing that more for Kendall's sake to take care of her, and not for Kendall's company. But Kendall smiled, and walked out the door.

"I'll visit daily. " she managed to say before stumbling out. Cara was worried sick. She'll never take care of herself. That happened five years ago, too. Until she met me.

--------

Kendall checked into a nearby hotel, not too far from the hospital, in case Cara ever needed anything. She settled down, put her bags, and clambered onto the bed for a while, taking deep breaths, and closing her eyes. It's all good. Kendall would be fine. You're fine, Kendall. Just being a little weak. She buried her face in one of the pillows, and inhaled the freshly washed sheets scent. Smiling, she slowly drifted off to sleep.

When the rain is blowing in your face,
And the whole world is on your case,
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love.

When the evening shadows and the stars appear,
And there is no one there to dry your tears,
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.

I know you haven't made your mind up yet,
But I will never do you wrong.
I've known it from the moment that we met,
No doubt in my mind where you belong.

I'd go hungry; I'd go black and blue,
I'd go crawling down the avenue.
No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love.

Kendall stirred slowly. She groggily woke up, rubbed her eyes sleepily, before realising the sky outside was dark. How long did I even slept? She checked the bedside table, and saw her phone lying there. A few emails from work, and an anonymous whole paragraph of a song. Make you feel my love... Wasn't that the dream she just had...? Who texted that? It couldn't be Cara, because Kendall knew her new numbers, even. It can't be Harry, because Harry would never do that. Probably just a wrong number. Kendall tried shrugging it off, but the song was a constant thing in her head. It kept replaying and replaying.

She went for dinner that night, and had a few drinks. The people would stop and stare at her for a while, knowing how many rumours her and Cara had already, especially now that she's literally staying so close to Cara, rumours bloomed more than ever. Some took photos with her, others just smiled and said they were fully supportive of her and Cara's relationship. Kendall didn't care to stop them and explain they weren't in a relationship, because she couldn't care less. It was technically true. No it isn't. It's different.

She considered visiting Cara, but she figured she'd be better off without her. Cara should have a peace of mind, and Kendall, after not seeing her for a month, didn't deserve Cara's affection. She left Cara, again, and it was not like she planned on coming back. Being single would be nice for a while. Besides, Kendall's heart needed time. Time for self-love. Self-repairing. Even after five years, Cara wanted her back. Why? Why would a goddess like Cara want a lowly, shy and unwelcoming girl like Kendall? Because she loves you, Kendall. Shut up good thoughts!

She arrived at the hotel, unlocked the door hastily, and went to the bathroom. With her frail hands, she opened the tap, and let the hot water flow, dropping in a bath bomb in the process. She slowly undressed, and climbed in.
Let the water drown my worries like it'll drown my body.

----------

Cara, on the other hand, was suddenly heavily breathing, her hand shivering and glistening with beads of perspiration, pressed on the big red button to call for help.

It felt like she was drowning.

I don't know about you guys, but if you look at CaKe pictures carefully, it's bound to be that only one is smiling. And it's usually Kendall. Why is that? Management issues? Or am I just being the one that overthinks it? Tell me your thoughts in the comment section below.

All the love,
