"Simple, I came back for cake. The hospital has good butter cakes, you know," she smiled, but there was sadness in her eyes, and her smile was forced. Cara noticed the thinning of her hair, and yet she managed to smirk cheekily at Kendall.
"We agreed to meet in a month, didn't expect our meeting to be like this. Thanks for visiting me, Kenny. "
"No problem. Was just passing...in LA anyway. You needed a blood transfusion, didn't you?"
"Yeah. I wish I could meet who helped and thank them. Do you know?"
"I met them. They're pretty nice. It's a girl, by the way. "
"Sit down and describe her to me, Kenny. "
"Are you trying to bait me to stay?" Kendall laughed, and it was like music to Cara's ears. That laugh, the laugh she hasn't heard in years, came back. And it was a genuine laugh.
"Yes. It's very boring here. Please stay. Describe her, was she hot?" Cara instantly regretted her words. It was the very reason they parted, anyway. Kendall paused and studied her for a moment, before sighing.
"Yeah, she sorta is. We talked. She's been dumped by her boyfriend recently, and met up with someone she hasn't met for a few years. Things were going great, but they parted for some reason, I don't know why. "
"Tell me more. "
"So she went to Australia, and got a better job than she did in LA. She was finally happy again, she said, and Australia borough her what LA couldn't. Freedom. And yes, people say America is the country of freedom, but to that girl, Australia gave her limitless possibilities. Who knows what the future can hold for her? She's looking forward to study a bit more in the near future, and she's delighted she's cut off the toxic people out of her life. " Kendall said as in a daze. Cara smiled and watched her peacefully.
"Kenny, do me a bit of a favour will you?"
"What?"
"Tell me more and more about this girl. I'm starting to fall for her, I think," she glanced carefully at the table with food beside her. Kendall took a deep breath and regained her composure before sitting down. Cara held her hand, and felt their fingers intertwine.
"The girl-"
"What's her name?"
"Shush, Cara. Listen! Her name was...Kate, or something, I forgot. It started with a K. "
"Okay, okay. Carry on. "
"So Kate bought a small apartment in Australia, and she began a new life. She was those normal people again, she went to dinner parties, attended her best friend's amazing parties, and loved the taste of life. "
"But was Kate loving herself?"
"Kate is a hard case. She...doesn't really like her body. It's so imperfect, her hips were ugly, her dimples made her unconfident, and her body was like a wasteland, she said. But she's fine, though. "
"Then?"
"Kate, she heard a phone call. Your blood matched with hers. It was great, she saved your life. "
"I know. I'm eternally grateful. I wish I could meet Kate and kiss her on the lips and date her," Cara saw the brunette blush, and took her chance. She picked up the sheet of paper lying beside the food, and showed it to Kendall.
"And by the way, Kate may have wrongly pronounced her name. It's Kendall Jenner. "
