LATER THAT SAME NIGHT

At around midnight I was able to escape from the clutches of the party and couldn't be happier to be home. I sighed as I unlocked my door and stepped inside. "Honey!" My mom shouted as I stepped inside. "Congratulations! I'm so proud of you! I'm so sorry I wasn't there, there was an emergency at the hospital. I'm sure you did amazing." She said hugging me. I smiled a big smile as she released me from the deadly tight hug. "Thank you. " I said giggling. "Rae!" I heard my name called I looked to see my older brother David smiling at me. He walked over and hugged me as well giving me another "Congrats!" I was so glad to be out of the party setting. "Thank you guys honestly so much, I was forced into a party some friends threw for me and it was exhausting. I love you guys." I told them. "Also we got a cake as soon as we heard." Mom said walking into the kitchen. David walked right past me and I felt a slight tug at my pocket. My pocket was almost inside out. Poor pocket! I looked down to fix it but i saw a paper that distracted me. "What in the -" I started. I unfolded the paper to reveal a note:

'Rachel; you must have saw us. It's me, Alex. The four boys from school. The ones who disappeared. We're back now and we need you to trust us. But most importantly, me. We really need to have contact. Rachel, I know your head is probably spinning right now, and you have all these questions about us and where we went, but all will be answered in time. Please, just call me. 7497648675'

I was so confused. My mind found and connected the missing link of who the boys were. Memories flooded throughout my brain. Those boys, Alex. The mysterious Alex. My mysterious Alex. My mysterious best friend crush. Alex used to be my absolute best friend. We did everything together, and only five people were willing to talk to him. Me, and his inseparable mates. Everything about Alex made me so curious, but scared everybody else. I knew everything about Alex. He was so... different. But I hadn't realized it until him and his three buddies suddenly up and disappeared, around grade 10.

It caused me to work on my social interaction. The most important questions were, why did they leave? Where did they go? Alex never came back. Nobody ever called me, so I slowly forgot about them. I guess there was just so much going on in my life, I didn't have time to question them. So many questions were racing through my mind, so of course, I picked up my phone.
