"Look, Luke, I don't think this is going to work out," I told him. "Rachel my goodness would you please just trust me? We will be fine, we can make it out of here." He said. He seemed so sure of himself. "Okay, but if we get caught, I will be marching all over your gravestone," I commented. He chuckled then replied, "Very funny." While scratching the back of his neck again. "But uh, are you really worth risking all this?" He questioned giving me a side ways glance. "Well I can try to be." I smiled half-heartily. "Good." He said. He took a deep breath before glancing at me again. "So, are you ready to break out of here?"He said finally. "Look Luke, if we are going to get out of here, we, well you, need to stop the chitchat. Lets just go." I snapped. "Alright." he stuttered out.
We waked to the door and he cracked it open slightly to see who was a round. "You work here, stupid." I told him rolling my eyes. He looked at me blankly before flatly saying,"But that wouldn't fit into a cool escape movie." He face was so serious, I couldn't help but laugh, before he gave me a very dead, cold, 'are you serious?' look. I gave up a drooped my shoulders. "Let's go." I said pushing past him. "You can't just go out there!" He shrieked. "Yes I can, and if you keep yelling like that, you won't be able to go out there." I snapped. Opening the door, I peered out, because I couldn't just slip out of here without anybody saying anything. "Alright Hend, all you have to do is walk out of here like this is something you do on a natural occurrence. Obviously somebody has to take their prisoners to the council. So why not you? Just walk out, hold onto my arm or something, and walk forward confidently. Nobody will suspect a thing. That is of course if you don't only have a reputation of giving prisoners food." I said glancing at the empty tray. "No, Rachel. Lets just go." He instructed me. He looked at me like he was searching for some sign of reassurance, so i nodded. Slowly facing the door, he shook his head as if he couldn't believe he was actually making this escape.
He pushed open the door and stepped out. He looked scared. "Keep your head down, you look terrified." I whispered latching my arm around his. His skin was cold and was a shock to my naturally warmer skin. It was like fire and ice.
There we were, walking the halls. This place was huge. Like a forgotten castle that was turned into some sort of prison for everybody but the kings. People were glancing at us, making me nervous. Some people had a questioning look, some were shocked, and some seemed angry. He must have looked mostly in charge, seeing that I was being pulled along by him because I have no idea where we're going. His head was down though, making him look scared and vulnerable. "Never mind, keep your head up. Just control your emotions." I told him. We walked and walked, the number of people becoming smaller and smaller. A cold shock suddenly rose the hairs on the back of my neck. A deep voice spoke behind me. "Rachel Valentine?" The voice rang.
I slowly turned around to see this faceless voice. "Yes?" I said. I almost chocked on air. He was perfect. Golden brown hair, melting brown eyes and pale skin to even it all out. He was wearing jeans, and a white shirt with a leather jacket over it, zipped about halfway up. "Luke you can leave now thank you for escorting her." He said. I turned to look back at Luke, and he seemed scared of this striking boy. "Oh, um okay. Thank you, sir." He mumbled. "We have been expecting you. I was going to personally get you myself, but I guess your friend beat me to it." He said smiling.
I couldn't be snappy with this guy. I couldn't ask annoying questions with this guy. Man I couldn't even look at this guy without blood rushing to my cheeks. "Oh, I didn't think he was actually escorting me to you, but as long as I'm here now, right?" I asked grinning back. "Of course." He said. The talking ceased, only for a few awkward seconds. "What am I doing here?" I blurted out. I couldn't help it. I had to know."Hold on there. You don't even know my name." He replied chuckling, "does that matter? This isn't the first time i have woken up in a strange place and last time i turned into a werewolf." I said annoyed. "My name is Julian. And it's a pleasure to meet you." He said, leaning in to kiss my cheek.
"So does this mean you don't know?" He asked. "I might know, but how am i supposed to know if i know if you don't tell me what I'm supposed to know?" I said smirking. "That was a very confusing sentence. I like you." He boldly stated. I couldn't help but blush bright red. Of course, I'm such a typical teenager. "Well it is time to go in now. Lets find out what you really know." He said smirking back at me."Lets get this over with." I mumble. The large oak door were opened and a beautiful room now stood before us. Almost every color in it was gold. It almost looked like a court room. There was a big open circle in the middle, and surrounding the circle were large, comfy looking gold chairs. Not only that, but they were filled with gorgeous people. The open part of the room had seven golden chairs, and only one of them was empty. Guess I was fashionably late.
The six people were surprisingly young, just like me. "Here." Somebody said shoving a paper into me. Well that wasnt new to me. I opened it up to see it read, 'Rachel Raine Valentine, 18' It had a sticky side to it. Were they actually labeling me? The other people had theirs stuck to their shirt, and their stickers ranged from 13 to 19. It was placed in order from age, so i was second to last. The 13 year old looked really nervous. There was something really odd about her. She was no Vampire or werewolf. She was tan all over, with long wavy brown hair. Thats when i saw them. Her legs were lined with scales. She was wearing a loose green skirt and a purple almost bikini top. She was scared. She must not be used to land. Her name tag said her name was Lanie. Almost my middle name.
The next person in line was a 14 year old boy. His name was Victor. He had torn up clothes and rustled hair. He was tan as well, but not tan like her. He had to be a werewolf. Next in line was a 15 year old girl. She had sparkles all over her. She had a beautiful dress. It was tight, short, very revealing, and sparkle crazy. She had cute little pink flats on. Her hair was long and blond. Straight like a stick probably going down to her belly button. A shimmering light came from behind her and i saw two wings behind her. A fairy! Seriously! She looked nervous as well, probably concerned about what she was wearing. I know i would be if i were in front of all these people. Her name was Lilah.
Next in line was another girl. Breaking patterns aren't we? She was clothed darkly in red and black. The only thing I could understand about her was anger. She seemed so lost. So angry. She was looking down at the ground, not bearing to make eye contact. She had black hair that was straight and short. It probably barely fell onto her back. I stared at her concerned, and her head suddenly shot up to stare back at me. Pain filled her black eyes. Her teeth were sharp. All of them, like they had been filed. Her eyes, the part that was usually white, had much more red then usual. It seemed to be a blood red. Scary. I could barely make out her name, but from what i caught it said Victoria. I searched her eyes for a sign of happiness, but she just seemed mad. "She's a demon." A voice rang in my head. I shot straight up, wondering who had said that. I looked down the row to see Victor staring straight back at me. "That isn't nice to say about people, Victor." I told him. "Its not a nick name. She is a literal demon. It happens when you watch somebody die that you really, really love. Your eyes turn black and the white part becomes and bloody red. Once in this state, it's hard to get out of it." His voice came through my mind again.
I guess that would make since. All i saw in her eyes was anger and loss. I can image living like that. In fact it wasn't even living. She was just there. So empty, so distance. Just a shadow in the night. What kind of sick system were they running here?
