My world was fading in and out. Dark shadows... pain. It was like there wasn't a single ounce of joy left where I was. I was here but somehow lost in a pool of confusion. Floating, yet sinking. Once again my head was spinning like a top. What happened to me? It hurt to think about it, my heart was violently beating against my chest. Something happened. I remember. It left me wincing on the floor in pain. Somebody... Something... Gone. I couldn't think of what it was. Everything was a gray blur in my mind. Had I been drugged? My body started to adjust, and I became loosely awake. Everything hurt so bad, I could barely open my crisply shut eyelids. What was natural everyday occurrences to people, were suddenly difficult.
My eyes didn't see much. Not a bright light. Not pitch black. But more like shapes of figures. A small candle was lit in a corner, causing the room to be slightly illuminated. The walls appeared to be stone and were strongly built. A small table lay in the corner. The same one the candle was on. The ground beneath me was long brown pieces of wood, almost like a normal floor, but more beaten up. There was a bookshelf on the left, so many books I would easily loose count. The room was small, it might appear cozy, if it wasn't for the lack of light and company. My eyes darted around the room, looking for more signs of recognition. The door was on the wall in front of me. I was sat on the back wall. If this was me being captured, it didn't seem like much of a prison to me.
I looked over towards the left of me. A small table was in that corner, too. But this one was much smaller. An old looking cup sat on it. If you tried to put another it would have fallen and broken. To my right was a chair. Not a luxurious chair, but a chair none the least. Why am I not sitting on that? The pounding in my head was hard to forget, especially when trying to get used to these strange surroundings. I started to move, only to realize how sore my body was. I must have been sleeping on this hardwood floor for a long time. They sure know how to treat people. I managed to sit up, realizing the pain was bearable. I began to roughly push on the sore spots to try to break the tension and release the acid causing my body to burn so bad. I managed to crawl over to the chair and hoist myself up. Just as I turned around to face the table and candle, the door opened.
A boy who looked about my age opened the door. "Oh good, you're awake. They will be pleased to hear." He said stepping into the room. He had a tray in his hands. It consisted of a sandwich and a big bottle of water. "Who are you?" I spoke out. "Oh that doesn't matter right now, the council is thrilled you're here!" he said. "Who is the council? Why are they thrilled? I think you have the wrong person." I protested. He sighed, ruffling his blond hair. He was very cute. Perfect skin, tall. He has perfectly white teeth and most likely an adorable smile. "I really hope I didn't mess up again with you. You are Rachel Valentine, right?" He asked me. He looked very concerned. Like he would be very upset if I wasn't. "Maybe. What happens if I am?" I asked. "What happens is you will go to the council. That's all I really know." He said. "Who exactly are the council?" I breathed. "The vampire council." He said.
"The vampire council. You brought me to the vampire council. The ones who have been hunting me down to take my powers and take them for themselves?" I asked him. "Listen, I have no idea what they want from you. I just fetch and check on." He told me. "But you must know where I am. Are we close to New York?" I questioned. "Oh dear no. And you weren't even close to New York where I found you." He said. "What do you mean. The last thing I remember was-" I was cut off by a horrible pain. "I can't remember. My head hurts too bad." I said. "Oops! That medicine! I will be right back!" he said. Well, at least he didn't seem like he wanted to eat me. Was he human? Some sort of slave of there's?
He came back minuted later with another tray full of pills. "You know it's really hard to get these down your throat when you're passed out on the ground." He said. I chuckled, even in a spooky place like this, somebody who has to work this way can still find humor in things. "Yeah sorry about that." I said. "I made a big mess and had to get a mop and clean it all up. It took me a million tries to get it down, and I still don't think all of it made it. " He said. He smiled at me as if nothing was wrong. "Uh, I don't know if you know this. But I really have no idea what's going on or who you are or what a human is doing here, but I wouldn't assume this isn't a joking place." I said to him. He laughed before responding,"I'm not human." He hissed at me and his eyes turned a bright green or yellow. Two sharp fangs appeared in his mouth. So this guy was a vampire, too. Are you guys going to eat me?" I asked. "Of course not. Why would we eat you?" he asked. "Because that's what vampires do. They eat humans." I said. He laughed some more, showing off his fangs. "You are no human Rachel." He said.
"What do you guys know about me?" I asked him. "Well, we know that you are a werewolf. We know that you have what I believe to be a boyfriend, think you called him Alex in your sleep. I don't know what happened to him, but when I found you, you were really far away from New York. Your hair was tattered. Makeup smeared. I'm sorry, but you just looked horrible. I know that you're special. Really special. But they have yet to tell me how." he said handing me some pills. I looked down to notice I was all clean. I had a gown on. Not fancy, but a pretty good nightgown. I looked at my hands to see they were clean and my fingernails were polished. My hair was wavy, a little bit messy from the sleep. I could feel that I had freshly applied makeup to my face. "Who cleaned me up?" I asked. His face turned red and he looked away. "Oh uh. I did." He said putting his hand on his neck. "Oh. Well, thank you. " I said. "Just doing my job." He replied.
I swallowed the pills and the pain suddenly subsided. I could think. Move. Speak clearly. "Woah." I breathed. "What?" he chuckled. "The pain, it just went away." I said. "Yes, this is what medicine does." He laughed at me. "Not the kind of medicine I have in my bathroom." I said. "Do you mean your medicine doesn't work? Oh! Your human medicine. Yeah, that stuff sucks." He said. I couldn't help but laugh at his comments. "And how is this medicine so amazing?" I asked him. "Well it's obviously amazing, it was created by me." He said. "You are quite the man of many talents." I joked. A painful reminder flashed through my brain. "What do you know about the guy I was with. Alex." I asked. "I don't know where he is, but your bra has vibrated many times. Might wanna check that. I don't mind." He said.
Considering he has already seen me with not much to nothing on, I just reached down the dress to pull out my phone. It was nice that it was so light. I had 15 missed messages and calls.
"ALEX: Rachel where are you! I'm okay. I woke up in your house somehow. The bleeding had stopped. Wolves heal fast! You disappeared and I'm freaking out! please call me!" It read.
"He is lost and confused." I said to the boy. "Call him" he responded. "Okay." I muttered. "Rachel! Are you okay! I am so sorry things keep ending up like this. I feel horrible. I should never have messed with what was going on in your life." He said. "Calm down. I'm safe.I think. I'm in vampire territory. And am being pretty well taken care of. I don't think they want to hurt me. But the guy taken care of me says I need to see tee council soon." I explained. "Rachel they are dangerous. Vampires and wolves are mortal enemies. If anybody saw the two species even glancing at each other the whole world would break into war. They are bad news. Don't talk to any of them." He said. "Alex. They won't hurt me. Enemy or not I think I'm fine. Stop being so paranoid." I said. "Just stay safe. Don't let anybody catch you with a phone. Call me when you can." He said hanging up.
"Nice boyfriend you got there. He obviously doesn't know the first thing about us. And no, I would never hurt you. What would be the reason to anyways? You haven't done any harm to us. In fact, we look like the crazy ones!" He explained. Grabbing the two trays after filling up the water, he headed to the door. Which in a room like this, was actually only a few steps. He opened the door and slipped his body out. "Oh. My name is Luke. Luke Hend." He said before closing the door.
