I woke up in the nurse's office. I felt like i had been asleep for ages and when i tried to open my eyes, one of them was closed in a little.
"Afternoon Robert. You were unconscious when a couple of guys carried you in here. Just sit back and rest, your mother's on her way."
"How long was i out for?" I asked running a hand through my hair. I kept my eyes closed as i talked to the nurse.
"Not long. The bell for the end of lunch just rang about thirty minutes ago. C'mon now," she handed me a cold glass of water as she tried to get me to lay back. Through my good eye, I read that her name was Mrs Carter and she had a thick South African accent.
I looked up into her dark brown eyes, they matched her dark brown features.
"Who were the guys that brang me in here?"
"I'm not too sure, they kind of just dump and ran."
"Oh okay. Hey could i have some ice for my eye?"
"Sure thing sweety, here ya go." She handed me a bag if ice and answered the eager knock on the door.
"Oh my gosh Rob are you okay?! What happened?" My mum came rushing in then, and she slobered me with hugs and kisses.
"I'm fine mum, relax."
"Your face doesn't look fine, c'mon lets get you home," she said grabbing my arm.
"You make sure you don't get into anymore fights now,' Mrs Carter said.
"I'll try not to, thanks for everything," I said offering a small smile.
"No worries darling, get some rest. Bye," and with that I was rushed out of the school, only to go home to a very big talking-to.

As i sat down to dinner, there was a knock on the door.
"I'll get it," I shouted out until I realised the house was empty. Mum was off on one of her adventures again, leaving me alone.
"Why hello there m--" I stopped short when an unrecognizable man was at the doorstep. I thought it would've been April but i guess i was wrong.
"How can I help you sir?" I asked sweetly.
"May i speak to Rachel please?" The stranger asked. He was wearing a business suit with black Ray Bans-- kind of like a MIB officer.
"Is there any reason?" I questioned.
"You're not going to invite me in for tea or coffee?"
"I'm sorry but i think you have the wrong house. One, you're in a suit with sunglasses on during night time and two, I just want to know what you want with my mother."
"Thank you for your information Rob, we'll be in touch," the man said.
"Wait, how do you know my name? Why were you here? What's going on?" I yelled after him-- but it was too late, he was gone.
I closed the door and tried my best to continue with my dinner but that man left me wondering.
So i sat in front of the TV and thought, and thoguht, and thought.
Eventually, i narrowed down the possible situations and came up with this:
a) He was part of the FBI and they were investingating some case that had God knows what to do with my mum
b) He worked at the same place as mum and just wanted to ask her a question and wasn't able to get through to her via phone
c) He was a private investigater hired by my father
They were all possible senarios and i was just praying that it wasn't the last one.
I tried going to bed early but the man that turned up at my door was keeping me awake. I was drowning in my thoughts and it wasn't good, so i called April to try and get my mind off things.
"Hey babe, what's up?" she answered on the second ring.
"I just need someone to talk to is all."
"Well, it is midnight so shouldn't you be going to bed?" she questioned.
"I'm in bed. I can't sleep though," i replied.
"Neither can I, how's your eye?"
"It's painful, but it was worth it. The look on Derek's face-- priceless."
"Hey, no more fights okay? Something like that happens i want you to come to me to solve it or be responsible and talk it out next time."
"I wasn't the one who threw the first punch and aren't i supposed to be the protective one? Ya'know, being the boyfriend and all.."
"Oh shut up, stop generalising guys. You're not all that great."
"Well I must be, considering i'm your boyfriend and all," i said lauging.
"Exactly, you're my boyfriend. I have a right to be protective too right?" she asked.
"You're amazing, you know that?"
"I do," she said laughing.
"No, i'm serious... you are."
"Stop it, you're making me blush!"
"Okay, okay I'll stop. Hey i've got to go, i think mum's home."
"Alright, i'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight Rob."
"Goodnight beautiful," I hung up and went to ask mum about the weird guy. Although my talk with April was distracting, it only lasted so long.
As i pulled over my bed sheets to get out, my phone buzzed with a message from an annonymous number.
Tell your mother about the guy at the door and I'll go after your girl.
There was only one person who would send me such a message-- my father. He had found me.. again.
