Chapter 17 ~ Sick
Shinako groaned as the sun's blinding rays seeped into her dark room. She rubbed her eyes before opening them, immediately squinting because of the brightness.
She blinked before sitting up and stretching. A sigh of relief left her lips when she heard her back crack. Cause, damn, it felt nice.
She noticed she was still wearing the red beanie she found in her cabinet. It was a cold night. Sometimes, she finds it weird -and ironic - that most of her things in the room are red even though her favorite colour was green.
She rubbed the side of her lips and felt dried drool at the corner of her mouth. Her hair, however, was still smooth and not tangled. But it did smell a little weird. Maybe it was because of her breath or maybe she drooled on her hair.
She stood up feeling a little dizzy. But she ignored it and took a baggy shirt -that she stole from Shintaro- and pajama pants and undergarments from her closet before walking to the toilet inside her small room.
The first thing she thought of when she was in the toilet, was Attack On Titan's theme song. Some days it could be, Armin's scream, or even what food she would first.
She's weird that way.
She stepped out of the toilet already in her clothes. She dried her hair in her room before stepping out of bright room. She felt as if she forgot something but ignored it.
Only when she was at the bottom of the staircaise did she realize she left her glasses but she was too lazy go back up to get it. Her head pounded and she felt as if she was burning.
She walked until she hit someone's back. Thinking it was Shintaro, she wrapped her arms around his waist before snuggling her face into his back.
'Shintaro' flinched with a quiet squeal.
"Nii-chan," Shinako mumbled into his clothing. "I'm hungry."
She felt that 'Shintaro' was quite short today because she could put her head on his shoulder, usually, she wouldn't be able to do that because he was too tall.
"Mi-Midori-chan?! What are you doing?!"
She furrowed her eyebrows. Shintaro doesn't call her 'Midori-chan'.
She let go of his waist and looked up at the person's back. She could see his black hair though it was blurry.
Thinking it was a burglar, she lifted up her leg.
In a split second, she had kicked Takao's waist and he fell to ground. Seconds after that, she felt dizzy and the world turned upside down.
Her eyes closed and she fell to the ground with a thud.
She felt someone hold her head and she felt concern coming from that person.
This happened before. She thought.
"Sei?" She muttered before passing out.
↯
"Shinako, your face is red."
She cupped her cheeks and it did feel warm. Her head was spinning every time she moved too.
"I'm fine, Sei. Oh, I mean, Akashi-kun." She mumbled, using her PE t-shirt sleeve to wipe the sweat on her forehead. In school she was scared that people might hear her calling him Sei so she calls him 'Akashi-kun' instead.
They were having PE and just standing in the sun was causing her to sweat.
"We'll do relay running." The teacher said bluntly.
