Chapter 25 ~ Preliminaries
"So fast... it's already the Winter Cup Preliminaries." Shinako muttered, leaning against the wall of the locker room.
Shintaro nodded, taping his fingers silently.
"He~y, Shin-chan, Shina-chan. The senpais have gathered already." Takao chirped, entering the locker room.
"Yeah..." Shintaro and Shinako said at the same time.
Shintaro's phone vibrated and Shinako snatched it, thinking Fukio was wishing him good luck. Her eye twitched as she examined the message.
"Nii-chan, Kise said 'Good luck'." Shinako told him. "Can I just say 'Die'?"
Shintaro nodded and Shinako typed back with a smirk before pressing send.
↯
Gomene Kuroko, we're going to win this. Shinako thought, observing the Seirin players, sitting down on the benches.
"Don't talk to me." She heard Shintaro say to Takao.
She ignored him, however. Shinako looked at Kuroko. What are you hiding?
The week before, she had gone out with Momoi and Momoi accidentally blabbered out Kuroko's uncompleted technique. She pretended to be uninterested but she'd been secretly wanting to know.
"Destroy them. That's the only thing that is in my mind right now." No shit Sherlock, Shinako thought, rolling her eyes.
"Yeah... me too." Takao said with a smirk.
"Right. Let's go!!" Otsubo said, about to walk onto the court.
"Oi, wait." Shinako said, stopping them.
They looked at her blankly.
"Have fun~" She said with a bright smile. "And crush them."
They chuckled at her.
"Sure thing, Shina-chan!!" Takao said.
She slapped Shintaro's back. "Good luck nii-chan."
Shintaro nodded, suppressing a smile.
"GO CARROT~!!"
The twins looked up simultaneously at the seats to see a black haired girl jumping up and down.
"B-baka." Shintaro muttered, a blush spreading on his cheeks as Shinako smirked.
Shinako waved at Fukio, sending her a thumbs up.
↯
"TIME'S UP!!!"
Shit! Shinako ran a hand through her hair before letting out a sigh. I guess it can't be helped.
"Good job," Shinako said with a small smile.
All of them but one forced a smile at her, not wanting to show their disappointment at the result.
↯
"Hey, Kise-kun," Shinako said to Kise as Momoi startled Shintaro.
"Midoricchi~" Kise said with a yawn.
"Midorin. Midori-chan." Momoi said with a small smile.
Shinako greeted her with a nod.
"Well, it wasn't a bad match. Right? Huh?" Kise asked with a smirk.
"Hmmp..." Was the only reply he received from Shintaro.
"If you win the next match, the Winter Cup is just ahead," Kise said. "Don't mess up, okay?"
Shinako snorted as Shintaro replied him, "That's improbable. Stop blabbering, you dumbass."
"That's so mean!!" Kise exclaimed in disbelief.
Isn't nii-chan always? Shinako thought, suppressing a other snort.
"If you want to be concerned, the choose the wrong candidate," Shintaro replied. "Seirin's next opponent is Kirisaki Daiichi. It's Hanamiya Makoto."
Kise and Momoi tensed up.
Shinako didn't react because she knew that Seirin is a strong team. They can beat Kirisaki Daiichi. They have Kuroko-kun and Kagami. I wonder who our next opponent is... seems I have to ask coach again.
She looked down at the rickshaw when she saw a dog. However, for some reason, she thought it looked like Kuroko. They had the same shade of blue eyes.
"It's cute," Shinako said, picking it up.
Momoi held her hands out and she passed the dog to her.
"I wonder where he came from," Momoi thought out loud, looking at the dog with bright eyes.
Kise sweat dropped. "Calm down a bit, Momocchi."
"It peed on my rickshaw!!"
Shinako's eyes widened at the dog, That evil dog peed on my rickshaw!!
Tearing her gaze away from the dog, she noticed Kuroko walking over to them. She waved at him, a small smile on her lips. Kuroko returned the smile but it dropppd when he saw the dog running towards him. "Sorry, that's our dog," he mumbled, picking the dog up.
When he looked up, Momoi gazed at him for a few seconds before she fainted dramatically.
"Momocchi!!" Kise exclaimed as Shintaro shook his head and ignored them.
Well, this is getting troublesome, Shinako thought, turning away and hopping onto the rickshaw as she dozed off.
↯
"Nii-chan, do think they'll be alright against Kirisaki?" Shinako mumbled, getting comfy on the sofa.
"Why wouldn't they?"
She sat up and glanced at him in the kitchen. "You didn't see?"
"See what?"
"He's injured," she muttered, laying back down on the sofa.
