My eyelids rose open slowly, feeling as though they weighed two thousand pounds. I saw heads hovering over me, blurry. They slowly stopped moving and I saw myself looking up at Isabel, Alexia and Zayn.

“Oh thank God!” Isabel cried, hugging me.

“Mmm, Isabel, what…?” I felt drowsy. She let me go and I looked around, realizing everyone was in my room. “What’s going on?” I asked, my eyebrows furrowing as I sat up.

“Li, you weren’t getting up,” Zayn said softly. “We tried everything.”

I frowned and looked around. “We were so worried, we called a doctor,” Madison said, coming closer to my bed.

“Well, I’m up now!” I said, trying to be bright and peppy and wondering why my body was moving so sluggishly.

“The doctor said that something was wrong. You were really pale and limp, and he said you were sick. Really sick,” Kate said.

“He said you’re coming down with something that could probably be really bad. He doesn’t know what it is, the symptoms, they, they’re really unusual,” Louis told me.

“What symptoms?” I asked.

“Take a look for yourself.” Isabel handed me a small hand mirror.

I turned it around and gasped at my reflection. My skin was very pale, and my eyes were sunken in with dark shadows underneath. I touched my cheek; the skin felt a bit clammy, as though I had been sweating.

The doctor walked in. “Hello Lilah!” he said cheerfully.

“Hi Doctor Wilkins,” I answered miserably.

“Come now, don’t look so down. I’m not too sure what kind of sickness this is, I’ll need to do some research. All I can recommend now is some rest and healthy food,” he said.

I groaned. “And I know how you are about eating your vegetables!” he laughed. I smiled slightly. Dr. Wilkins was our doctor since we all settled down in the house. He knew almost everything about us.

“So, I would suggest someone take care of you,” he said. Rachel stood up.

“We all will.” I gave an internal groan. That meant a whole lot of vegetables.

The doctor asked to speak with one of us before leaving. Liam stood outside talking with him; I couldn’t hear what was being said. I turned to Isabel.

“What are we supposed to have today?” I asked.

“What? Oh, nothing. Nothing. Nothing!” she said nervously.

I eyed her. “Isabel.”

She sighed and her shoulders slumped. “Today, we were supposed to pack. Remember how you booked tickets for the trip to the Bahamas? For the boys’ music video? It’s the following day,” she sighed.

“But that’s not important! We’ll wait until you get better,” Niall said.

“No. You’re going. Simon was already delayed when we got into that accident, not this too. We can easily fit me in afterwards. You girls are going with the boys to the Bahamas,” I said firmly.

“Li, you heard what the doctor said! Someone has to take care of you!” Katie protested.

“I can take care of myself.”

“You need to eat vegetables,” Alexia said, dragging out the last word.

“I can do that on my own!” I said defensively.

“Li, I don’t mean actually eating the vegetables in a Big Mac. And we’re not leaving you here,” she said, crossing her arms.

I raised an eyebrow at her. “You girls and all of the boys will go to the Bahamas without me and film the music video. Is that understood?” I asked sternly, taking over my role as Captain.
