Chapter 25: Music Video of Awkward

Three weeks later Katie was finally released from the hospital. Three weeks of two of the entire group taking turns to visit her every week since she was only allowed a certain number of visitors, and the doctors had apparently made an exception the first time we were there. The girls and I would come and read her the latest on any celebrity news, any new rumours about the crew and anyone in it. The boys would often simply talk to her about anything to keep her occupied, since life in the hospital was pretty dull.

Katie entered the hotel room with Roger on one side and Kate on the other, and everyone cheered. We were finally complete. “So, how long until you could take off that awful bandage?” Harry asked her.

Katie now had to wear a bandage wrapped around her middle, mostly just to keep her from moving that part of her body too much. “Only two weeks, actually. I was healing pretty quickly and the doctor said it would be too long until I could get it off. And it doesn’t make a difference, really,” she answered happily.

“Doesn’t make a difference?” Avalon questioned.

“I can move all I want with it, the only things I can’t really do are bend down or stretch my body,” she explained.

We all nodded understandingly. “So that means you could work on the music video in the meanwhile,” Alexia decided. Katie nodded her head.

I let out a breath. “Well, I can’t tell you how happy I am to hear that. And thank goodness you’re out of that hospital; it smelled like all sorts of medicines in there.” I let out a shuddering breath and Katie laughed.

“How about some lunch?” Niall piped up.

We all shook our heads at him and he gave us a sheepish grin. “Although some food other than what they served in the hospital sounds pretty good,” Katie agreed.

“Let’s go down to the restaurant. I haven’t seen it yet, even though we were here for over three months, and I’m getting a bit bored of simply eating in this hotel room all the time,” Avalon suggested.

“How have you never seen the restaurant?” I asked in wonder.

“We got tired of having to sign autographs all the time.”

“How about a swim after!” Kate cried.

“Better and better. Come on, I think they stop serving at two. Let’s go get ready,” Isabel said, glancing at the clock. It was half past eleven. The girls and I went into our rooms to get ready while all the boys rolled their eyes and settled down to their videogames.

By the time we finally walked out of the bedroom, it was one o’ clock. We weren’t surprised to see the boys still on the couch, hammering away on their controllers and we shooed them into their rooms to get changed. They walked out two minutes later and we all went down to the restaurant.

After a satisfying lunch in the impeccably furnished dining room, we got changed into our swimsuits and met at the pool. We crowded round, looking everywhere. “Where’s Louis?” I asked, confused.

He soon walked up, carrying a tall glass of an orange drink, sipping it through a straw. “They have carrot smoothies!” he cried, excitedly. “Try it!”

I wrinkled my nose while shaking my head, but the others accepted the glasses served to them by the waiters. As Rachel took a sip of hers, her eyebrows flew up. “This actually tastes pretty good,” she said, while the others nodded in agreement. Louis beamed round at everyone.

“Just try it Li,” he pleaded, waving his half full glass in my face.

“Try it!” everyone began shouting, in an attempt to egg me on, while I kept denying until I reluctantly accepted Louis glass.
