Today was the most boring day in life. We all lay sprawled out in the living room, with nothing to do. Someone called out a random suggestion at times, but no one wanted to do it. There was literally only one smile that day, and that was when Zayn offered Isabel half of the last chocolate chip cookie at breakfast (we were too lazy to cook) and she, blushing furiously, had accepted it.

“You know, you would think famous people would have something better to do than laze around saying how bored they are,” said Kate.

Everyone murmured in agreement.

“I know! How about we decorate the house for Halloween!” cried Niall, sitting up from his slouched position on the couch.

“Too tired.”

“Too much work.”

“Don’t feel like it.”

“Nah.”

Niall sank back down. Five minutes passed.

“Treasure hunting!” announced Louis.

“Nah.”

I checked the time. Half past one. “Girls, we’ve been sitting like this for three hours,” I cried. “Isn’t that kind of sad?!”

“Yeah, it is sad,” said Katie, then went back to drawing in the air.

Half an hour later, I lay with my feet in Avalon’s lap tracing one of Zayn’s tattoos while he attempted to braid my hair, even though he hadn’t the faintest idea on how to braid. I could actually feel knots forming in my hair. Suddenly, the yellow phone rang.

“Another human voice!” Avalon lunged for the phone.

“Hello? Emma, hi! Tonight? Of course! Masquerade? Interesting… Thanks, bye!” Avalon hung up.

“Emma Watson, Emma Roberts or Emma Stone?” asked Rachel.

“Wait, we don’t know Emma Roberts personally,” I said, before Avalon could reply.

“Oh yeah… well which one was it Ave?”

“Stone, she called to invite us to a Halloween Masquerade Party!” Avalon exclaimed.

The room filled with whoops and cheers. “When?” asked Harry.

Oh darn, he was coming.

“Tonight, eight to eight! It’s at her house.”

“Wait, a masquerade?” I asked, confused.

“Yeah, you dress up as someone for Halloween as usual, but you wear a mask. Understand, dense little Lilah?” asked Harry in an overly sweet voice.

I flung my shoe at his head, which he managed to dodge. I patted the floor with my feet, trying to find the other one.

“But that means we have to go buy costumes!” cried Isabel.

My foot stopped in midair. “I have an idea!” Louis announced.

We all shut up and waited for him to continue. He beamed at all of us.

“Well, go on mate,” prodded Liam.

“Oh, right! What if, we all get our costumes separately and each goes to the party separately! The game is to find out who everyone else is at the party!” He beamed at all of us once more.

“Not that it’s a bad idea…” began Kate.

“But why?” her twin finished.

“I don’t know really,” he said, his shoulders slumping.
