Chapter Eight;
Incandescent light sparkled like diamonds all around her, the long strands of seaweed bent and swayed with the motion of the ocean’s current. All around her beauty floated, like a well choreographed ballet, to the sea horses, and the colorful fish within the deep shades of aqua greens and blues.
The underwater vision was amazing and seemed so surreal as if it had taken on a life of it’s own. She felt so weightless tranquil just floating there in the water observing, innocently memorized by the beauty that surrounded her.
As she pushed with her hands to spin herself in circles, her laughter created a rapid flow of bubbles that tickle her nose. On her third spin though she came face to face with a smiling Kylier. Her heart raced with pure pleasure at seeing him, like they had been friends forever.
Only this Kylier was so drastically different here in her dream, somehow his tan was gone replaced with skin that appeared to shimmer like a perfect pearl.
His usual green eyes filled with mischief seemed to be darker more predatory in a fiercer expression.
His hair floated around his handsome face like black thick corded rope instead of sunshine wheat.
He was bare chested, with hardened muscles that seemed enhanced by the surreal quality of the water.
Her eyes trailed lower and she drew back in startlement by what she was witnessing.
Instead of the expected tail she found he had legs the same silver pearl coloring of scales. His feet were elongated and webbed. He reached out for her with that grin of his, exposing the dimple she fancied.
Only she panicked and pulled away screaming.
His expression turned to worry then annoyance as he kept reaching out for her only to loose her.
She turned to get a way and came face to face with another image, of herself!
This reflective image was laughing at herself with a tail.
Feeling suddenly cluster phobic she felt herself fight to get out of the dream and away from him and her.
Her eyes suddenly popped open in pure panic, gone was the sleepy feeling, as she tried to calm her pounding heart.
Finding she was sitting up in her bed with her hands and feet tangled in the bed sheets.
“It was just a dream, it was just a dream,” she kept telling herself over and over while wiping the sweat off her face. Her door swung open and it scared the crap out of her so she lost her balance and fell on the floor.
“Hailey we don’t have time for your antics,” her mom leaned over her.
Her mom was dressed in jeans and a cream silk shirt, hair pulled back in a tight pony tail arrayed in a colorful scarf.
“Are you alright?” she asked when she didn’t answer her.
Hailey pushed her hair out of her face, popping her head above her mattress to look at her,
“yeah, you sorta startled me. What’s up mom?”
“ I think you forgot with all the excitement and morning surfing that Leah is coming in today. It’s going to be a long day between airport runs and this afternoon invitation. Then Friday nights ball.” she announced this while leaning down to kiss her forehead.
“Ball! What ball!” Did she miss a day?
“Yes I know, the gall of this guy to announce that at last minuet also. We received the announcement just this morning. So we will be going with Leah to the dress shop, Old Mrs. Steinbach is the best at last minuet dresses,” with that said she was out the door.
Dragging her tired butt to the shower which helped a little she threw on some jeans and blue tank top with her flip flops. Braided her long wet hair out of her face and went in search of some caffeine.

The airport traffic was crazy, so she jumped out and ran inside to wait while her mother found a parking spot. Forty five minuets later Leah was collected and they were on their way back into town to Mrs Steinbach’s dress shop chatting about Leah’s new temporary home.
Leah was ecstatic of course and choose a midnight lavender velvet and silk dress that look wonderful on her especially once her hair was done up. She of course was another matter, she hated clothes shopping and sulked at everything she tried on.
So her mother chose one for her, this one particular dress she had on was by far more beautiful than she could have ever picked out herself. The top layer was ivory with a low round scooped neckline designed with a corset style middle that was laced in the front with black ribbons. The long ivory flowing gauze sleeves had a soft interlaced pattered through out with a solid two inch band on the upper arm with a pattern of small flower sewn in silver thread before it fell open past her wrist.
The under dress it self was a simple dark black silk slip. It was something designed out of the king Author period. As her hand slipped down over the material it some how felt right. She smiled her approval which made her mother claps her hands and smile back pleased. She swirled and the material glided around her to trail out behind.
“Now for shoes!” Leah cried grabbing her hand and tugged her into the other room in search for thoseshoes. Ugh!
