Chapter Nine
Leah and herself had chose to wear sun dress’s, but out of pure stubbornness she wore her high top sneakers, those she wouldn’t give up.
And of course her new necklace and family ring.
She got a look from her mom but she ignored it, her grandmother wouldn’t have time to say anything because they were meeting them there, by then it would be to late. Her dad just smiled and gave her a hug.
The lawns were perfectly manicured with flowing fountains sprinkled with a verity of tree’s most likely shipped in. Hedges high and wide gave the feel of exclusion from the rest of the island.
This place made her family estate look like a water down public park.
A progressive long line of limos was already visible from the moment they had entered threw the tall stone gates. Wow, she never knew she had that many relatives.
But her mom quickly injected it was also the DeVonior family also.
“Are you serious, this is insane!” she whispered low to Leah. Who was also starring out the window in fascination.
“Just think this is only the afternoon party,” Leah winked at her.
She rolled her eyes and shook her head.
“Hey, did you know that Jason was coming?” Leah looked at her while pointing out her window. She leaned over and yup there he was with his family, god she just wanted to be swallowed up by her seat.
Yes his family was one of the more prominent families on the island.
“Oh by the way all the prominent families are requested to be here, “ her dad said this in after thought while looking at her threw the rear view mirror.
“Ouch!” Collin’s sarcastic reply had her wanting to hit him.
“Oh no,” she began in after thought and Leah finished, “yup you got that right, Gillian will also be here.”
They both looked at each other just as her father pulled up to the car port.
“Play nice Hailey, I don’t need any drama scenes today,” her mother’s warning was backed up by her dad’s,
‘it’s not all about you Hailey remember that. So with that said try to have a good time.”
She sullenly followed her parents in, flanked by Collin and Brien, Jackson was left at home with his nanny.
All her uncles had followed in the range rover and were right behind them as a Vali greeted them.
In the foyer they were met by her grandparents and for the first time Hailey was introduced to the reception line consisting of the Devonior family.
Who knew shaking hands was so tiresome, the smell of perfumes and colons were giving her a headache.
Finally upon reaching Mr. DeVonior she endured his disapproval look at seeing her sneakers.
So secretly she was thrilled to have some type of diversion from the uniformity of this pompous circus line.
She smiled and moved on, Kylier was there to witness the whole thing and she thought she caught a fleeting smile. He was dress very formally in a grey tailored Armani suit. His hair though was the same, wild in the front and short in the back.
His green eyes mysteriously stared back at her.
She introduced Leah to him and moved onto Jena his sister who was the picture perfect runway model.
