Mattie's POV:
After finding out that a bus could transport me to and from school, I decided to take that route instead of getting a ride from my mother each day. Getting off of the bus, I went to breakfast and chose a crappy donut and milk.
I had just sat down to begin eating when a girl came over and sat next to me.
"Hello! I'm Dalia, and I'm in the welcoming committee. You are... Mattie Oswald, yes?"
I blinked before nodding. "Uhm, yeah. I wasn't aware there was a welcoming committee..."
She sighed.
"Yeah, that was made up. I just use it as an excuse to make friends. I was in the office when you came in yesterday."
I thought back to yesterday and remembered seeing her when asking to talk to the headmistress.
"Oh, that was you?
She nodded, her blonde pixie cut moving slightly. Black eyeliner and mascara framed her eyes and i found myself breathless.
Daaaaaaamn, the girls here are hot...
"Ah, uhm, do you- are you, uh... what classes do you have?"
We chatted for a bit before I got her number and social media info. Silently being proud of myself for not scaring her away, I went off to my first class as the bell rang.
~~~~~~
I somehow had found my way to my last class: chorus.
Shyly peeking into the classroom, I talked to the teacher and she told me to sit in an empty seat next to a familiar girl. As she turned to face me, my eyes widened in finding it was the girl from yesterday.
She gasped and tried to fake it as a cough. "Uh hey, my bad, I forgot to help you up yesterday when I accidentally ran into you, I didn't mean to by the way I was just in a rush but you know maybe we can hang out later so I can repay you. Although I don't know what I would be repaying you for, like I'm glad my phone didn't crack. Not like that's your fault. I'm going to stop talking now." She said, blushing wildly and trying to hide it with her hair.
I tried not to smile at her awkwardness as class began before noticing Dalia sat on my other side.
Throughout class we chatted about random stuff and, just before the bell rang, I went to the bathroom and, when I went to wash my hands, she came in.
"Oh, hey Dalia. Wassup?"
She walked right over to me and handed me a note before running out.
Wanna go out? I mean, like, date?
Yes No
After washing my hands, I circled yes and gave it to her before running away as the bell rang. I sighed and tried to stop blushing as I headed to my first track meet.
