"Mom,' I said as I looked at the high building in front of me. Lightning stroke above our heads as my mom looked back at me.
"What's wrong, honey?" She asked. I pushed up my backpack and gulped.
"What if they don't like me? Can't I just keep doing the psychiatric sessions?" I pressured.
She shook her head and lightly stroke the back of my head with her hand.
"You're already grown-up. Those sessions won't help you anymore. I promise that this place will help you recover more quickly,"
I gulped another time and sighed, shaking my head lightly.
"If you say so,"
As the car drove away, we entered the building. Holding my stuffed animal close to my chest, I looked around. What's with this place? It gives me shiver. There were animals hanging on the wall looking at me lifeless and creepy dolls sitting on a bench watching our every step.
It seemed a long hallway that made our footsteps sound very hollow."Here it is. Stay here while I fill in some papers for your arrival," she told me. She gave me her bag to hold as she knocks on the door once, before entering.
Still staring around, I turned myself away from the door and leant against it as she had closed it behind her. I could make out a vague man's voice welcoming her and giving her a seat.
I flinched when lightning stroke again and lightened the hallway in a very unpleasant way. It felt like as if those animals were still alive and coming after me. I shook my head and looked at my feet. I shouldn't let reality get messed up with my imagination. Gulping another time, I saw a pair of shoes standing in front of me.
"Who are you?"
I looked up to find a young man staring at me with his lollipop in his mouth, arching his eyebrows. He had ginger hair and the way how he looked at me didn't seem like he was very fond of my visit.
I bowed once and introduced myself, sticking out my hand."Annyeonghaseyo, I'm Choi Sarang,"
Scratching the back of his head, he didn't seem to be interested of my existence. Looking at my hand, he lightly slapped it away with the back of his hand.
"Why are you so polite? Are you mocking me?" He scoffed. His gaze was intimidating that I couldn't make eyecontact for a long time. He was rude and distant, yet goodlooking.
I haven't seen anyone like him before. When I didn't say anything and just looked at his appearance, he adjusted his snapback and bend down to put his skateboard on the ground. Stepping on it, he made a soft groan and yelled.
"V IS COMING!"
I widened my eyes and watched his back as he skated through the hallways with his hand tracing the passing walls. He didn't bother to pull in his hand when a picture frame was in his way. Knocking it down, he didn't care to look back and just disappeared around the corner with a loud yell.At that moment, the door behind me opened and my mom looked at me.
"Your administration has been done. You're officially a member of this house," she told me.
Astonished from the young men, I didn't say anything and stared at the guy behind my mom. He had a friendly smile plastered on his face which I could easily tell was fake. He didn't seem like someone who had good intentions with me. Goosebumps arise on my skin as my mom smiled at me and pulled me back to the entrance. My gaze was still fixed on the man who just stood there, watching us from a distance. With a nervous look, I turned back to my mom.
"Mom, are you sure they are going to help me? Is this a good idea?" I urged, holding her hands. I felt like a kid begging her to not leave me alone.
"Honey, I told you this is the best. If you listen well and do what they tell you to do, everything will be just fine. You will be able to sleep tightly after this," she assured me, while lightly pulling my hand from her arm.
I loosened my grip as she gave me a weak smile.
'Before you know, I'll be back to take you home," she continued, but none of her words comforted me. Someone placed a hand on my shoulder and pulled me back. I turned towards the hand and then looked up to his face. He was close. Too close. He was like a stranger invading my personal space."Sarang's mom, don't worry. We'll take good care of her," the creepy man assured her as he gave me a light squeeze.
I shivered and wanted to say more, but he cut me off. My mom nodded and exited the door, while waving at me. A car stopped in front of her and soon, she disappeared leaving me with this man.
The man turned towards me and towered over me as he was tall. He tilted his head a bit and gave me a wide smile with his yellow teeth.
'Welcome in Mental Institute: Bulletproof. You are in good hands now," he told me. "Choi Sarang,"
His voice was low and dangerous. All I could do was gulp as I didn't have the guts to say something.
Help.
