majority, not all.
heyyyyyy wissup
it's meok so rn I'm reading a book on here *its called written in stars* and the book deals w racism a lot and the white ppl in the book r such bitches like gOd
so as I was reading this book, I just started reminiscing the one time I acc had an experience w white ppl (uno I live in a predominantly Black Country so not much whites)
*i haven't experience racism first hand*
ok storYtime
so it was back in 2014
I had some type of leg disease (I was born w it) called the blounts
it made my legs really bracket-like *( )*
and so I was gonna do surgery in America (Loma Linda, California to be specific)
and like the ppl who like arranged the surgery or did communications with the hospital or whatever decided they wanted to talk to me over the fone b4 I arrived @ the US
yes I remember they were called the International Patience Service
so I guess they dealt w non Americans
anyways so i was on the phone w the lady, and she just started asking me how I was and all and the conversation was going fine
then I remember the time I was speaking w this lady was like some days b4 my birthday
and she knew that bc uno she had all my records and all
so she was like
"ur birthdays coming soon, r u excited"
and I was like yeA I'm pretty excited
AND THEN SHE WAS LIKE
"OVER IN AMERICA, WE HAV SOMTHING CALLED BIRTHDAY CAKE, DO U HAVE BIRTHDAY CAKE IN NIGERIA?"
ahhhhhhhhh
even my 10 year old UNAWARE SELF knew that was such a stupid fucking question to ask someone like wth
uno I've always watched these types of videos on YouTube where they show the white person asking if u own any lions or live in a hut or something
and honestly I thought they were exaggerated
Up until that lady asked me if we have birthday cake !?!!?
like bruH
to be very honest, it's hard enough to be a black American
but I think it's even harder to be a black African, visiting/just arriving at the USbcos of THE STUPID KINDS QUESTIONS U GET ASKED JUST BCOS PPL THINK WERE SOOOOO BEHIND OR SOMETHING
oh yeah and I remember the time when I had gotten to the US
and bc we didn't have a car the international patient service lady used to help drive us around (not the same birthday cake lady)
and so just to make conversation she decided to ask me what i did @ home
and I was like "oh homework and such"
and she was like "ooooh that's interesting, what else?"
and I was like "I also watch tv sometimes" (even tho i spent most of my 10 year old time on that Stardoll website)
and then she was like KIDS IN AMERICA WATCH THINGS LIKE DISNEY CHANNEL, NICKELODEON ETC, HAV U HEARD OF THAT B4?
ugH
I was like fukkkk
ofc I've heard of that b4 um y u gotta be so annoying
and like I know maybe she just didn't wanna assume that I have those channels but o think it was npmore of the fact that she thought so lowly of Africa and its nations.
like heLLO
lemme inform about Africa a bit
yes, we have cake
yes, we have television
yes, we have wifi
no, we do not own lions, tigers or any wildlife, frankly, only farmers own non domestic animals FYI
no, we do not live in huts, only the less privileged of us don't live in proper houses, actually, they either live in unfinished buildings, slums or tents (if they're nomads) NOT HUTS
+many moreand here some other things u thought we maybe didn't have
cinemas
netflix
Sheraton (this really bomb ass international hotel)
and many more stuff I just can't remember rn cus lazy afok I'm done
honestly I blame the news tbh
like they only show the really rundown parts and bc white ppl won't even bother to maybe look up abt Africa and its beauty, that image of a backwards, run down, "village" is stuck in their heads
hey if u wanna catch the beauty of Africa, go search "#TheAfricaYouDontSeeOnTV" or "#TheAfricaTheyDontShowOnTV'
ok luv u lots
bye
