this might be a "cliché" topic but feel free to read or not to read
someone on Twitter acc asked Emma if she thought she was a white feminist, and here was her response
1. Emma doesn't even know what white feminism is, so of course she's gonna say she's not a white feminist.
white feminism is feminism hat has failed to be intersectional and has failed to reach all different branches of the female gender
not just black women, as Emma thinks.
so even on her attempt to define white feminism, she still ended up leaving out other branches of women lmao Emma2. and why can't she speak on behalf of intersectional feminists????
yes we understand you cannot and will not be able to experience what ppl who aren't white, straight/cis are experiences but Emma you can ASK
don't think of wearing a hijab to try and see what a Muslim woman feels first hand but rather, just ASK
don't try and be a feminist if you can't speak on behalf of intersectionality, because if you can't do that, then what even is your feminism anyways ??honestly, I can see how "hard" Emma is trying to be a "good feminist" but I don't think she ever realizes her mistakes
rather, she defends them.
there's legit nothing wrong in making a few mistakes in your feminism, just frikin APOLOGISE****************************
here I have compiled a few "characteristics" of white feminists
1. they think it's just sexism, misogyny, catcalling or being whistled at on the street. they think it's only those things bc those are the things that THEY experience. and yes, they can't be blamed for only experiencing those things. but to the point where they want to ignore the other oppressions from other types of women is where they have gone wrong
2. they like saying shit like "we're all on the same team"
yes we are all women. but in this "women" there are subcategories!!!!! for example, say all women are like visually impaired (like we can see a little bit, but just not as much as the men) and then we're all in this classroom. the ones in the front, will definitely see more than the ones at the back !!! that's just how it works. yes, you can't really see the board of the class that well, but you're seeing it more than the ones at the back3. thinking wearing a hijab is a force.
look, yes, Islam requires women to wear hijabs, but it is actually only mandatory when they are praying. the women who chose to wear the hijabs outside of prayer have chosen to wear the hijab (unless they're in a country such as Saudi Arabia where woman are forced to cover up whether they like it or not) so you can't say that they're asking for the oppression they get for wearing the hijab, bc it IS part of their religion. you can't say that telling the OPRESSED woman to take off her hijab is empowerment. that is legit the opposite of feminism.4. telling opressed groups what to do.
briefly, you are a white woman whose ancestors have given her privilege and a boost over every other race. you cannot tell other marginalized groups what to fucking do. IM TALKING ABOUT YOU OLD LADY THAT GAVE A SPEECH AT THE GRAMMIES (idk her name)yeah so I'm done ranting.
acc I'm not done
but I'm done for now so see yeah
pls give feedback and please please correct me on anywhere that I was wrong or inaccurate
