We texted all day long, with the exception of lunch and showers, until I couldn’t stay up any longer. I then drifted into another lovely dream only to wake up to my normal life, in my normal room. Although, my life is not quite normal anymore, considering the fact that I know an amazing guy who looks like Josh Hutcherson and who might be a secret agent-spy thing (you never know, it could happen). He had told me last night that he’d be busy today and he would try to sneak in a few texts throughout the day so I decided to take it easy and lounge in my awesome sweatpants and a hoodie.
“Movie day!!” I ran downstairs screaming, making sure that my mom and brother could hear me. “Goodness Claire, we’re right here! You could have made me deaf!” My twin brother, Will, obviously doesn’t understand my craziness. We’ve lived together for 17 years and he still expects me to talk normally, wow now that is sad. “But it’s movie day!!! I had to make sure you knew…” I flashed a quick smirk in his direction as I selected a movie from our large collection of DVD’s. He rolled his eyes and muttered something under his breath, probably something about his hearing loss that I had caused a moment ago. My mom was on the computer, totally into whatever she was reading, so I don’t think she noticed anything that just happened. “Mum…” I said glancing over to where she was seated in front of the computer. Yes, I called her mum; I love how British people say that so a few years ago I started calling my mom that and it kinda caught on.
"Yes dear?" she replied after a long, awkward silence. "Just making sure you're still here, you seemed a little weird..." "Sorry I've just been overwhelmed with work lately and my email is overwhelming. I'll be skipping 'movie day' today sweetheart." well that stinks, she loves the movie I was planning to put on, oh well. "Oh, it's ok mum, you can join us next time." I waited for a response but after a few moments I realized that I wasn't going to get one, turning around and slowly making my way to the basement. Will was sat on the couch playing with a stray thread on one of the decorative pillows. "Will..." I called out, breaking him out of his little wonderland in his head. "Oh hi Claire bear." yup, that's my nickname, well one of my nicknames. I have about 7 of them from friends from school, church and my family. My favorite would probably be Elly, Liam (my closest friend from school) gave me that nickname because of my middle name, Elizabeth. "So what do you wanna watch?? I picked out 3 movies and you have to pick the one we watch." I looked at him expecting a quick remark or a mumble but he just smiled back at me. "What are your picks?" "Pirates of the Caribbean, Batman: The Dark Night and Love Actually." his face lit up upon hearing the titles and he quickly chose, of course, Batman: The Dark Night.
I walked over to the couch and sat with my brother while we watched the movie. We had both seen it before about 10 times each so it wasn't that interesting to me anymore, but it kept me busy. About 30 minutes into the movie I laid back into my brothers arms, suddenly feeling very tired. He wrapped his arms protectively around me like always and soon after I drifted off into sleep. "Claire... Claire." I heard someone murmuring in my ear. The husky but subtle boys voice sounded oddly familiar. I knew that it wasn't my brother and it certainly wasn't my dad.. "Mmm." I mumbled, not wanting to get up just yet. The boys arms were wrapped around me and I was laid in his lap hugging him, which for some reason felt quite comforting. "Did you sleep well little princess?" his murmuring was soothing me and making me drift back to sleep but I knew that I needed to get up so I kept talking to him as best as I could. "Mmhmm, I had a dream about John again. He was walking with me on a dock and he was about to kiss me but I woke up just like last time, right before the kiss."
"Well I'm very sorry for waking you up before the best part but I could finish the dream if you like.." um what did he just say?! I opened my eyes for the first time after waking up and looked up to the boy who's voice I had heard. "John?!! What are you doing here?!" I was extremely excited but a little embarrassed at the same time. He knew about my dream.. "Hahaha, I dropped by to see you but when I came down here your brother was begging me to take you. He needed to get up and move around after having to hold you for 2 hours." my face flushed bright red as John stroked my cheek. "How long have you been holding me?" "Only about 20 minutes, I figured you wouldn't be too angry if I woke you." only 20 minutes?! that's a long time! "I'm not angry, just a little shocked." I replied while realizing that I was still in his arms, but I didn't try to wiggle free because I was quite comfortable actually. "Good. So about that dream, would you like for me to finish it for you." I couldn't believe it, he wanted to kiss me. Oh. My. Goodness! I'm gonna faint, I am going to faint. "If you want, I mean it's ok if not, it's just that..." my sentence was broken off as he leaned in to kiss me, causing sparks to shoot up my spine and into my mind. He was consuming my thoughts and I couldn't even think straight. After a long and sweet moment he pulled away, grinning at me with that smile that just about knocked me over the edge.
"You ok?" he looked at me while trying pretty hard not to laugh. "I'm fine, but next time would you at least give me a little warning?!" I glared at him as he let out a husky laugh that rumbled through his chest and sent more sparks up my spine. I began to move off the couch after realizing that I should probably get off of John. But as I reached over him and tried to stand up he grabbed my arm making me fall back onto him in a sitting position across his chest. "John." I looked at him with a puppy dog face, I wanted to get up. "Not so fast, I still want to talk to you." he said while still smiling that charming smile that killed me. "I do too but not while sitting on your chest." "Well sorry, but I think you look best this way. And it makes it easy for me to reach up and kiss you." I smiled while feeling the hot tingling returning to my cheeks.
We talked for over an hour while sitting on the couch. I had found out quite a bit about John, like when he has something personal to tell me he'll play with a strand of my hair. Or when he's embarrassed he just looks down and pretends to be interested in my hands, flipping them over and over, then moving on to play with my fingers. I looked at him studying his face before I asked the question that had been on my mind since I met him. "What's your actually job? You can tell me, I won't freak out or kill you or leave you, you can tell me anything." we sat and stared into each others eyes as he took his lip in between his teeth as if he was debating whether or not to trust me. "Claire, if I tell you, you have to promise me that it wont change anything between us. You must look at me as the same person, not any better or worse." why did he look so worried? I mean, how bad could a job be? I probably shouldn't have said that... "I promise." I gave him a small nod letting him know that everything was ok.
He just laid there as if I hadn't said anything. "John?" I put my hand on his cheek and turned his face slightly so that he was looking at me. After a moment of silence he cleared his throat and began to tell me the secret that would change my life forever. "Claire, I have a secret that I've been keeping from you for too long. I'm so sorry but I just wasn't ready to tell you because of my stupid shyness and fear of what you would say." he waited for me to reply but all I could do was nod, scared that my voice would falter or crack as I answered. "First off, my name isn't John. It's Josh, Josh Hutcherson."
